Guest guest Posted December 11, 2010 Report Share Posted December 11, 2010 Peggy here and I wore the patch from 2000 to 2010 I started at 50 mcgs and went to 75 and stayed that way for 8 years. I lived in Florida at the time and due to the heat and therefore the sweat I had a hard time keeping the bloody thing on. Could not use tape as I am allergic but did get the transparent covers free from the company, Janseen and you have to call and really talk to them and tell them there is no other way to keep them on. Also you must have the BRAND NAME or they will not do this for you. I would still be on them but their free coverage, which I always got because of financial stress was denied in 2010 and I could never get it sorted and my co-pay through the other insurance would have been over 1200.00 a month, (twice what I get in SSI), so I had to switch to something else. My doctor wanted to put me on long term morphine, but his supervisor suggested methadone which has worked out wonderfully, although I hope I never have to change as I hear going off methadone is he.
