Reporting in as ordered! - This is Anne. I've been a bit under the weather

since my trip to Dallas. It pretty well wore me down - so I've been laying

pretty low. No news expected until January. Mostly having trouble with

severe air hunger and headaches - and more shortness of breath with exertion

and running a termperature. The headaches have been really bad - fortunately

they do not seem of the migraine type - mainly due to muscle spasms in my

neck. My PCP has fooled around with my medications and I'm doing a little

better with the headaches. They really started in Dallas. I've had them

before - but not like this.

I have enjoyed having my oldest son Ben home from college - my youngest son

is a junior in High School - Both are good kids - noisy at this age, but

good kids! I feel really blessed to have them. I also have a wonderful

husband who hasn't a clue about mito - doesn't really know how to handle it

- but he's so kind - so again - God has really blessed me.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas - mito and all. And a big thank you to

everyone on this list - even when venting, I find encouragement from

everyone that participates. Anne

Hi - answering to the Roll Call,

I have been busy exercizing and trying to get in shape since the Rheumatologist is quite sure my sore throats, muscle aches and joint aches are the result of my being fat, out of shape, having a poor diet, and the lack of exercise.

It is possible that he is correct. I have increased my time on the treadmill-ski thingy from about 2 minutes to 20 minutes before experiencing muscle cramps. However, I am not making much progress with the weight lifting especially the arms. It really bugs me that I am absolutely struggling to lift 5 pounds. I actually pulled my bicep muscle last week trying to curl a measly 5 pounds.

While I am increasing the amount of time on the treadmill, the post exercise muscle achiness never seems to go away. After 3 weeks of consistent exercize, I would have thought that my muscles would have adjusted to the exercise but this doesn't seem to be happening.

I have been away from the club since last Wednesday which means my muscles have had a full four days to recover but I still feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck.

I don't know if I am just being a wimp or if this just proves that I may have mito as the underlying cause.

At the very least, it gets me out of the house, away from the computer and out talking to adults.

Have also been busy buying a new car since I cracked my old one up in last weeks snow storm.

Take care,

Lori

  • 1 year later...

I have only been a member since Feb., 2004, and I haven't added my two-cents to a conversation yet. I was dxed with UC in 1963 and with PSC in 1990. I received my transplant on Nov. 11th, 1995. My liver is doing great, but my medicines have gifted me with Type 2 Diabetes and RA. I also have Scoliosis, Barrett's Esophagus, a history of blood clots, esp. pulmonary thrombosis, high blood pressure, edema, and my gallbladder was removed for stones, but was found to contain cancer. Although I only "lurk", I want you to know how important this group is to me. Not only do I learn many new ideas and facts for myself, I sometimes speak to groups about transplantation. Keeping up on the latest techniques as well as the problems helps me immensely. I would not like to be dropped simply because I have employed a silent participation to date. Thanks for having me in the group; I hope I may stay! dgkghoude aka karensangel11.
