Guest guest
Shauna, I was so sorry to read of your most recent challenge. I know my PSC isn't any where near as advanced as yours, but I do know that fleeting (so to speak) feeling of no hope. Every time I have to have a new biopsy of breast tissue (I have literally lost count), I don't worry so much about the cancer, but that it would stop me from having a timely transplant. It's a shame that they didn't/couldn't drain more fluid. I hope that the Lasix and Spironolactone do their job effeciently. I didn't notice any grumpy posts, so you're all clear here. As always, I do believe you are handling yourself with grace and dignity. I do admire you and your positive endurance. My prayers are with you, Cheryl in ID Portal Vein Thrombosis - Narrow Escape! Dear All,It seems that I have dodged yet another bullet or two (Thank God!) -- this time, portal vein thrombosis.Very relieved and perhaps a bit wiser in NC,Shauna (29, AIH'86, Crohns'95, PSC'99, listed @ Duke, MELD =19) -- Think you're an ORGAN DONOR? Guest guest
A message on behalf of the group ... Shauna, we hope you will soon recoup! We're all thankful that its not thrombosis, And we'll pray that, by osmosis, The diuretics will help reduce your weight. No, you have not been grumpy as of late! We wish you all the best, And we'll pray that when through this test, Your Hope will continue to be your lantern, Guiding you through each turn Of the road towards your transplant. Guest guest
Dear Dave, Barb, Cheryl, Deb and All, Thanks for your warm wishes (and poems!). I am truly very touched. I have been down this road before - to a much higher MELD score (28 in December'03) and even a backup Call on Thanksgiving - without quite making into the land of the post-transplantee, so much of this feels like deja vue. It's exciting and promising but at the same time I know better than to hold my breath. The increased diuretics are definitely making a difference. I have also redoubled my salt restriction efforts. Previously I was on a less than 2000mg of sodium a day diet. I am now aiming for less than 1000mg. Salt keeps turning up, however, like in the yogurt (!) I was going to have for lunch (160mg). Best Wishes, Shauna (29, AIH'86, Crohns'95, PSC'99, listed @ Duke, MELD =19) -- Think you're an ORGAN DONOR?
