Guest guest
Bennie Sorry about my grammatical mistakes, I type everything on my cell phone, so it's easy to make a mistake and not realize. I believe 'No Child Left Behind' destroyed our educational system. I can't tell you how many times I had teachers tell me that they no longer teach things because they're not on the PSSAs (Pennsylvania's state test), grammar being one of the things. In sixth grade (2001-2002), I was taught the quadratic equation, in twelfth grade we skipped right over it, I asked why. " It's not on the PSSAs, so we decided to exclude it from the curriculum " . Guest guest
I know I'm terrible with Grammer, spelling and writing 'Meds' is so much easier. My Mom moved my Sister and I every 6 or 8 months, 5 trips from Chicago To Ca., one year. I went to 7 different schools, another year 14 different schools. My Parents divorced when I was about 9 years old, no she didn't move us to get out of paying the rent, or anything like that. I didn't get the proper education, moving so much, put me behind, I know that is no excuse, I would try and catch up, before our next move, guess I never did. Mom's move's took 3 days, cleaning the old apartment, then cleaning the new one and unpacking. So we had empty boxes to pack up the old apartment and on and on. I hurt my back when I was 8 years old. I was in pain for a week or more, after our moves. Mom would never admit I was in pain, even when I was an adult, she was always the sickest person in the world. I wasn't looking to blame her, just wanted some understanding, from her and my Sister. When she died, my Sister took over as the sickest person. I tripped coming in from the garage, shattering my left knee. It didn't heal right. Not only was she expecting me to care for her, my family expected me to 'do it all' as I always had. She went in the Hospital on Nov. 20, the same day I got out, after my knee cased me to fall yet again. With a Rod in my left arm, which the Dr. changed to a smaller one, soon after she died. My sister expected to do everything. We had to do with, cleaning her apartment as she sat in a rocker, drinking her wine, as her Son brought her, what he thought she should see. I could only work a few hours and had to be carried into my house. Having 2 operations in a month took a toll on me and my back. Oh, did she 'whine and cry' about, all the work she did. I got many nasty e-mails from her friends and our relatives, saying how I should be doing more, blah, blah. Of course she didn't say anything about my arm, only that that I left her to do everything. How selfish I was, to leave her to do everything, even with how sick she was. A year ago, she was in the Hospitial with 'Jaundice', how close she came to having another 'flare-up. She says she was born with 'Jaundice' and now it's showing up cause she's older. B.S. I'm bad with posting, making many 'typos', spelling mistakes, etc. Thats my 'Sob' story, if it would be better if I left the group Just say so, I'm not here to cause trouble. Guest guest
We aren't allowed to write " meds " ? Seriously? I'm on a Blackberry and typing hurts. Guessing others have similar challenges. I understand not wanting " hav gr8 day u 2. " But stuff like " meds " ? Guest guest
Hi Pegi, I'm glad you are here. I know I'll make typos and things since I can't see that well but so far so good. Good grief, what idiots. I guess they thought you just put the rod in your arm because it was fashionable. I'm betting it is still causing you pain, especially when it rains. But now you've got us and the list. Everyone is wonderful here on the list. Of course that's just my opinion. (But I'm right.) Are you getting any help managing the pain? I pray so. If you're like me, the longer pain goes on without help, the less I can handle. Hang in there, OK? Again, glad you found us. Guest guest
Thank You for your nice comment, I've good on typo's. We can't all be perfect, when I see a typo, up a few lines on my post. I try to fix it, my computer just doesn't want to, all the time. I have to leave it or delete many lines, I know the members know what I 'said' & it's a typo. I've been in pain since I was 8yrs old, so I don't remember whats it like not to be hurting. I've said many times if I woke up, as I do ever few hrs. at night. I'd know I had died, that's terrible isn't it. Now I have a 'Good' Pain Dr., you know he cares & he's not afraid to give out 'Med's'. He's not afraid of the DEA. But I've been through the 'Mill & Back'. I can see that my back is 'messed up'. Why can't the Dr's? No, I didn't go to Medical School, just to be a Vet Tech, but a few Dr's have asked me that, you too? I'm not looking for 'Drugs'. I knew where to get them as a Teen, in my '3o's'-'40's', '50's' & now, better 'Drug's' then they would give me. Ya, when 'I grow up I wanted to be a 'Drug Addict'. Come on. I try to take the least I can, don't tell my Dr., they make me tired. If I take them as he wants me too, they only dull the pain anyway, that's better then no 'Med's'. I live in So. Calif. so not much rain, found out OTC ''Alive' or 'Advil', the one with Naperson, helps during the rain. I lived around Chicago on & off in live, that's when my back would only let me crawl around,in the Winter. Mom didn't let me get out of my chores, I'd push a heavy step-stool around to get up on the counters. I even had to do my sister's chores, hers weren't done, I would be the one in trouble. That's where she got it from, me doing it all. She said to me once 'I guess I just don't know how to clean a house'. I was sick of her jumping down my throat all day. In front of her friends and in-Laws, I answered, 'No you never had to, I did it all'. She went into her usual 'insane screaming' at me. The party was over, LOL. She would ask us over, but we couldn't eat anything, as I was assigned to watch the Grill & brought a plate of food in. She would ask me very 'snottie' like 'Did you eat any of these' No we knew better & would stop on the way home, or I made sure we had stuff here. Only one reason I don't talk to my sister and she's my only family in Ca. Sad isn't it, but you can only take so much, she never thought her 'Family' would leave her. No matter how bad she treated them. My back is screaming at me, time to rest it some. Hugs,Pegi XXX000 > Jeanne B wrote: > Are you getting any help managing the pain? I pray so. Guest guest
Pegi I too have been suffering from severe pain since childhood (started just before kindergarten, so age 5). But, it wasn't constant until I was 15. I wasn't prescribed pain medication until just after I turned 18. When did your doctor(s) first start to prescribe pain meds? Anyway, I'm sorry that your childhood was plauged with pain. I know how hard that is. I too have no clue what it's like to be pain free. For twelve hours during my intrathecal pump trial, my pain was 2/10, the closest thing to pain free that I can remember. I have told the Moderators that so they know it is okay to send back for me to change. The point it just to remind us that some people have visual reading attachments (i hope I am getting this right) and they cannot read the texting abbreviation. People know what med are but sometimes FMS (Fibromylagia) by itself is not understood. Everyone has their pet peeves and that is okay, if we laugh at ourselves also and not at each other only. That's my sob story and I am sticking to it : ) I am glad you are here, Pegi, along with other members and it is just a reminder, not meant at anyone specifically. I use my spell check but sometimes it sends before it is done and I can't get it back and just send an e-mail telling the moderator not to worry about it. The moderators here do this as a volunteer position and are really loving people dealing with pain also so anything we can do to help them, helps the other members and that is why we are here. Thinking about you. Bennie

My son has asked me to send him a text and I just can't do it. I am too slow. So you can laugh at me when you are able to text a message : ) Bennie
