Oh Jeanne, I love your descriptions of your cat, like mine. I was working on becoming a Master Gardener and had just few more hours for required training, just can't do it. I had Heirloom roses of every fragrance but now it has to be easy for me now. We don't get beat too hard for typos or cut and paste mistakes and the moderators are great about helping with instruction. My ex husband had Chron's and I cannot imagine how you deal with it and hope you get relief. All they used to have was azulsulfidine and prednisone. He was skinny and would get so moon faced and he was a mean man and told me " I was a good nurse, but nothing else " . Boy, no wonder he can't keep wives and I got tired of supporting him financially and physically at age 19 when he had such a bad attitude. My friend had colostomy at 26 for extensive chrons but that was many years ago and they have changed treatments now. I hope relief for you as you have some painful conditions and know there are members her hat have the issues that you talk about. Good Luck and welcome. Guest guest
Thanks, Bennie! Your ex sounds like a jerk, I'm glad you lost that extra weight. UGH. You've relieved me about the rules here, I was kind of worried reading all of them because I am a little anal about not breaking rules and I do love the dot dot dot elipises and know what I means. I tried Dragon Naturally Speaking and it was hilarious what it did with some real, normal words, not even mentioning what it did to computer speak. I am having my first visit with the pain doctor today. Hopefully he isn't one of those who does one treatment fits all. Since he is associated with the private, expensive hospital locally maybe he isn't. Can they really tell when a person is in pain and not just shopping for drugs? It worries me since most doctors base their idea of your pain on your blood pressure and heart rate. I take so many drugs just to keep the blood pressure and heart rate very low that nurses and doctors always say the same thing " You can't be in much pain because your BP is fine and your pulse is slow. " Actually if my BP and pulse were any lower they'd be calling for the crash cart. Come to think of it, that has already happened when I spent 3 days in surgical intensive care after a gut hemmorhage. If I get much more anxious about this visit, maybe it will be high enough to qualify as an indicator of real pain. Of course if he touches my belly where the Crohn's monster lives, I will end up coming off the table and screeching like a banshee. I am bringing my box of medicines with me so maybe he'll actually look at the labels and see what I'm taking. The box gets some odd looks in doctor's offices. Is there anything I can say or are there any words I need to avoid using that will help the doctor understand that I am in a lot of pain and not shopping for drugs? I admit to stressing a bit about this visit and I don't have a lot of confidence in him actually helping. Ah well, it will be over by this afternoon. Hugs to all, Jeanne B in GA
Guest guest
Jeanne, So glad to see you've joined this group. It's never boring to hear about your issues no matter how large or small. Wish you weren't dealing with so much that has altered your life's plans. I was thinking those two granddaughters must be spoiled among so many boys. Are they dainty little ladies or tomboy types? You should join a group called freecycle.org. People give away computer monitors all the time. You just pick your nearest town in your state and I bet you'll have a working monitor very soon. There are others who use programs that read aloud for you and also types what you say. I don't know the best ones but I hope someone will offer some suggestions. That would help you very much and make it easier to communicate and " hear " everything on the internet that you want to read. I love gardening too, this year wasn't a good one so we didn't even till. Next year perhaps. I've been wanting to plant some trees and this fall will be a good one to go into the woods and dig up some saplings. Then there's all those hostas to separate. Nice days this week for that kind of thing if I can get my husband to lend a hand. Once I get down on my knees, I may not get up by myself. I also ran a dog rescue several years ago for Australian Cattle Dogs. It got too much for me but several others in my state took up where I left off and are saving them now. I foster every now and then for them. So what animals are you caring for now? I think we have quite a bit in common.
