Hi Donna

It's nice to hear from a lurker. I can't see why SSDI would change your status,

repairing your

knee will not change any of your other diagnosis.

If I knew a cure for Bipolar disorder, I would take it and then sell it to some,

and give it

to others! Obviously I live with it too.

Keep in touch with us, we care about you and the rest of our lurkers. There over

don't remember how it was worded, but basically it said I was permanently

disabled and would be reevaluated in 9 years. In the last few months I have

found a doctor who would operate on my knee (every surgeon up to now said I was

too young for a knee replacement) doing a cutting edge new surgery. It's just

occurred to me that this might change SSDI's opinion of my disability. Argh!

Someone please put my mind at ease.

Donna,

Your disability is based on if you can perform your job you were working or an

other one. I also have Digenerative Disc Disease, three level spinal fusion,

sacral iliac syndron, dedpression,

fibromylagia and spinal stenosis.

These conditions prevents me from completing job tasks and was told I was

permanently disabled now and do have a health update every six months.

Maybe you should talk to your surgeon you are talking to about how this is going

to help you physically help you, it might or might now

I get forms that state let them know (SSI of my private insurance) if I have any

changes but what I have will not go away.

Welcome, and my SSDI was worded like yours, permanent disability. I hope the

best for the choice you make and it makes you feel better. Let us know. Bennie

Congratulation about your SSI!!! When they review you they will look at your

current medical condition at the time of the review. You have still be

disabled. If you are not able to do gainful employment (be employed regularly

without causing your medical issues to worsen) then you will remain on

disability.

I hope you do get some relief from the surgery. You feel differently after our

surgery and want to work down the road.

You also get a work trial period of 9 months for your lifetime. That means that

if you go back to work and work enough to be considered gainfully employed, you

have a 9 month period during which you will still get disability. Depending on

how much you earn after a time I think they reduce your disability checks by $1

for every $2 you earn. (That may have changed so you would want to check it

out).

I know on disability we can earn up to I think $700/month. If you earn money

sporadically or less than $300/month for example that would not be considered

gainfully employed. They will also consider what type of work you are doing in

relation to the reason for your disability.

Just see how things with your health progresses before you start to worry.

Big gentle hugs, Tami :)
