Guest guest
It is also available on the Web at: http://www.uspharmacyproducts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PLST & Store_Code=\ HPE The dye-free works better for me but I now only take it for it's expectorant action, not regularly as is done with fibro patients. You need to drink a glass of water with it. Not so expensive unless you want the extended action kind. I don't trust extended action drugs because they contain much more of the active ingredient and it does not always work like it should because we are all different. Ora >Guai is now OTC!!!! Unfortunately that also makes it alot more expensive and those who have FMS and LIVE on it it is a hard thing. You can get it at Wal-Mart under the name Mucinex. They are presently having trouble getting it in the 40 count and only have it in the 20 count. In some wal-marts I have seen it by the other cold meds and in some I have had to ask for it at the counter even though it IS OTC. >Pete at Bellevue pharmacy makes it as a compound it is 605mg's #100, for I believe it was $25. Mucinex is about $15 for 40 tabs. The good thing is you can cut the mucinex in half and you cant the compounded caps. But I have written Pete to see if he makes a lesser strength. I accidently deleted his e-mail with the info for the 605mgs >I DO advise if you are wanting to try it to go to www.fibromyalgiatreatment.com and read the site. Guest guest
> Can somebody please tell me if guai is a prescription > item or can you buy it over the counter somewhere? > > Thanks, > > Arline > Guai is Guaifenesin and is an expectorant (it breaks up mucus). It has always been an over the counter product but it usually comes with other ingredients that way. You can get it by prescription to get pure Guai. With so many using it for FM, it has now been seen more and more over the counter as a stand alone medication. Look for it in the cough/cold sections. People with asthma use it as well as bronchitis or just plain old colds. Here is some good info: http://www.sover.net/~devstar/phguai.htm Lynn

Maybe I misunderstood > that. > > Kristy > Yes it is. It is also extended release from what I see. Apparently in the past 12 months the FDA pulled all extended release products (long story but a search brings it up) but the Mucinex or Guaifenesin- 600 (I can't figure out if they are the same company or not but both are out there). The FM protocol wants you to use extended release. The information says you can use regular guai which is easy to find but you don't know how pure it is and you may have to break up the dosage more often thru the day. Of course when people start to find something that works for them, the FDA pulls it. They tried that with progesterone cream and so far....they haven't been successful but who knows in the future. I am considering giving it a shot but I have spent sooo much already on this problem that I want to be sure first. Doing my research!! Guest guest
Yes, please do. I have a lump in my inner thigh that has been there about 10/15 years and it slowly gets larger and causes more pain. It affects my ability to stand up.... i have to stretch the leg first. Two docs have looked at it and say they suppose its a twisted ganglion (A ganglion is a fluid filled mass associated with a joint capsule or a tendon sheath. Ganglion cysts can occur many places on the body, and are very common on the foot. Ganglions usually appear as a firm nodule under the skin. They may be symptom free, or can be painful, and may change in sizeperiodically. It is important to know that ganglion cysts are NOT CANCER and will never become cancerous (malignant). If the cyst is large or painful, treatment might consist of aspiration of the fluid with a needle. The recurrence rate with this treatment is 70%, however. A more definitive treatment is surgical excision, which can also have up to a 30% recurrence rate. Therefore, surgery should be considered only if the cyst is symptomatic. " Skillful neglect " (leaving it alone) is always a good option in treating this condition, as many times the cyst will go away on its own without any treatment. " I also have a small lumpy thing on my upper arm. Do these make me a candidate for Fibro? Dusty Re: Guai > BUT, I still have the lumpy bumps and tissue and that > hasn't gone away. Guest guest
Hi guys I am intending to trying guai and Dr St Amand's protocol. I read someone was talking about lumps and bumps. Aparently that is very common for fibro sufferers. According to Dr St Amand, mapping should be done by a mapper to determine if fibro is the problem. It is all part of Dr St Amand's protocol. It is also important to avoid salicylates and address hypoglacymia if present. As Candace suggested a good book to read would be the book "What your doctor May not tell you about fibromylgia". Propably some of you have already tried guai but I was wondering if you guys addressed those 2 things I mentioned above? I have an appointment in 2 days time and i'll see how I go. Thanks Anja p.s. I will be unsubscribing from this list since my inbox is clogged up with emails. Please email me privately.
