Guest guest
I also have those pains sometimes in front and sometimes in back. Lee Chest pains - after afib Do others have these? Pains in the center of your chest, tied in I guess to the fibbing as well as the gastro issues that some of us have along with, or triggering a-fib? Sometimes I worry about them, then I figure it's just afib and think they're caused by anxiety, so calm down.
Guest guest
--- Regarding chest pains during fib: My experience before the fib starts and during the attack, is a tightness in my chest, and breathlessness. I don't know if it is related to the anxiety or not, but it is not so much of a pain as it is a pressure feeling in the center of my chest. If I can make myself relax, it lessons the pressure. Any chest pain should be evaluated by a Doctor, not just assuming what is causing it. After my attack, it is hard to relax, because of the fear of another one coming, so my chest tightness stays with me until I make myself relax and try to forget about the fib. This is NOT easy. Guest guest
Sometimes the affib can actually cause muscle wall pain in the chest -Have you had a nuclear stress test to eliminate any possible heart strutural problems as once you have that test you will know that the pain is not from coronary artery or other heart disease- jerry
Guest guest
I think chest pain could be caused by all sorts of things and you'd have to be careful and have a good Dr work it up. I have chest pain as well, especially when the afib persists for an hour or more. I have asked physicans about it and they consider it a minor complaint in view of the other issue. The pains appeared only after I had problems with flecainide over a 5 month period (cough - chest pain - pleurisy - and an ER visit due to severe chest pain and inability to breath). The drug was withdrawn and all symptoms improved. I was left with the chest pain. It has been about 2 years now since all of that. Some folks know when weather changes are coming by joint pains, I can tell if I am overtired, or have longer afib episodes because of L side chest pain right in the area of the heart. When I asked a pulmonologist he speculated that 1) flecainide would rarely cause a problem with pleurisy 2) but since symptoms got better after flecainide was withdrawn we might assume that was the source of the problem 3) so perhaps there are adhesions that have nerve tissues in them and each time they are torn or pulled you feel the pain. It makes since to me and fits what I experience.
Guest guest
I experience the same symptoms, Mandy. I find that I am very anxious now because my afib episodes are becoming more frequent. The anxiety causes me to feel chest tightness and breathlessness which then makes me question whether or not I am actually going back into afib. It interferes with sleep which increases my anxiety! Deep breathing exercises help some. Returning to work after a long holiday is helping even more because I have something else to focus on.
