Wesli,

I have had PSC for 21 years, and it might help you to know that my bouts of jaundice and itching have come and gone. My first symptoms of liver problems was when I was 17 and I was jaundiced and vomiting. That subsided in time, and I didn't have another symptom until 3 years later. Without getting into all the details, this on again - off again cycle has continued. I'm not saying that your disease won't continue to progress, I'm just saying that your symptoms aren't a sure sign that it will; these things may subside and then return. Hopefully your specialist will have a better idea of what is currently going on with you, but don't be surprised if he/she still can't give you a definitive answer -- it's the nature of PSC. I pray that you get some answers, and some relief, very soon!

i am 125 lbs... i am going to the specialist for the first time tommorow and i am hoping he ups the dosage...is 600 mg..a mega dose??? >>>

Wesli,

I weigh 120 lbs and am taking 1500 mg/day which is in the higher dose range. You might ask your hep to increase the dose so it would at least be 25mg/kg of your body weight. I thought I had the formula on how to figure this saved but don't.

Wesli,

Jaundice is a symptom rather than a causative agent, so the fact that

you're jaundiced doesn't mean that you will deteriorate more quickly

(or slowly, for that matter) than anyone else. It is, however,

something that your specialist should be trying to find an explanation

for.

As for your Urso dosage, I'd say 600mg per day for a 125 lb.

individual is actually on the light side. I'm 225# and take 1800mg

per day and expect that to be raised at my next appointment in September.

Best,

Bill Wise
