Guest guest
Nicolas, Pre-implantation diagnose method means that the conception and diagnose (CF or not ?) of the embryo happens artificially outside the uterus before the pregnancy exists. Your wife would have to go through a cycle of hormonal stimulation to produce several eggs (I don't know the correct words in english -sorry- 'ovulation' in French) after which they will be picked up from her body and conception will take place in the lab with your sperm, like they do with couples who have infertility problems. The different embryos will be tested for CF mutations and only the no-CF or carrier embryos will be placed again in the uterus with a 20% chance of pregnancy two weeks later. In this way you avoid having to interupt a pregnancy. However, a neonatal test is still done at 13 weeks pregnancy because of the 1-2% rate of mistakes. Do you know the mutations of Timothé ? Also for this procedure, the exact mutations have to be known. In Belgium, this procedure is only done in Brussels (VUB). In France, it may also be the case that not every hospital is specialised in the method. As I said, we didn't opt for this method but we spoke to two couples. One has twins (no CF), the other one tried twice the method but didn't get pregnant. They had two other girls (no CF) in the natural way with the neonatal test, after their boy wCF. I have some more information at home. Some of it may be in Dutch but I don't mind translating it in French for you. If you would like it faxed, you can let me know. I live in Leuven (20 km form Brussels) and work in Brussels. Bye for now Liesbeth mom to (2wCF) and Kasper (11 months woCF) > Re: hi o, Liesbeth and Torsten > > thank you for your answer ! > I am on the french list muco-fr ( same as ) > And I have a question, for future : > what is " pre-implantation diagnostic method " ? > My wife is very interested ?
