Guest guest
My opinion (and just an opinion) is that sometimes I can't follow " eat til your hunger is satisfied " --there are some " Good " foods that are a real problem for me. Like the chick peas someone else was talking about--I LOVE chick peas. I could eat them all day and maybe be full but could still eat more because I like them so much. Hmm, now that I say that, I guess I need to realize that there is a difference between my HUNGER being satisfied and my body altogether being satisfied--I sometimes eat beyond satisfying my real hunger; maybe i " m stressed or bored and keep eating. I'll have to think about that. Anyway, on the " good " , red wine is listed as good but I also think he suggested limiting that to one glass per day. So I would see " good " as more of foods you can enjoy in reasonable amounts daily, and " limited " as something you might have a few times a week. Interested to see what the rest of you have to add to this. There has to be some limit on portions or weight loss won't occur--but he is so vague about it in the books Betsy > AGREED!!! Guest guest
Along with the Good, Limited, etc., designations I also take the portion size from the Good Fats, Good Carbs Guide into consideration. Beans all have a portion size of 1/2 cup listed and range from Good to Avoid. I know the original SB book says eat until you are full of foods off the good food list, but I feel the purpose of the diet is to learn to eat healthy foods in healthy amounts. To me, an all you can eat attitude is what got me in this mess! So I figure that even foods designated good should be eaten in reasonable portions. What is reasonable can vary from person to person, depend on if you're male or female, and depend on how much weight you have to lose and how quickly you want to lose it. But I have noticed that some of the people who seem to have trouble losing weight may be tending to take the eat all you want philosophy a bit too literal or are not combining foods and eating from all the allowed food groups. Again, just my personal feeling. However, if someone doesn't eat meat and is eating beans instead I would think you would eat more beans than someone who is eating meat. We all have to find what works for us and unless your weight loss has stalled I would continue to eat as many beans (or whatever) as you want. I would only become concerned about quantity if your weight loss stalls or if you're having some other dietary/digestive problems. Having said that though, beans are much higher in carbs than meat and I think it makes sense to be aware of that and factor it into your food decisions. wrote: With that said, I would like to know what everyone's interpretation of "Good, Limited, and Very Limited" means to them. Guest guest
Besides the chickpeas/garbanzos(hummus), what type of beans do you all eat? I know the book says beans but it doesn't mention what type! wrote: <momma-donna@c...> wrote:> Whoa!! Where in the world did a limit of beans come from?? Recheck your> sources.
