Staci is back in Kindergarten, and has her own teacher's aide, who even

rides the bus with her! I am so glad that she uses the gtube pump for her

feedings, part of which is at school. Staci is the only/first child in the

whole Long Beach Unified School District to get her tube feedings by pump

over a couple of hours, instead of by bolus feeding, administered by the

school nurse, or by the LVN that goes to school with the child, if the child

has a tracheostomy.

Staci's been back in K for 2 days now. Her aide goes to evening classes

to become a teacher. She has mild CP, used to wear an AFO on her rt. leg and

go to Tucker CCS for PT twice a week. She also has had docs that told her

and her mother she was going to die within 2 years. and I, and most

impt., Staci, are very happy with her. Staci is doing new things every day

now! They have a tumbleforms feeder seat without the straps sitting in a net

swing in the classroom. I give Staci a push. With just a little coaching, St

aci learned how to keep herself swinging by moving her hand/s and/or

foot/feet!!!! Today, I gave her choices of what she wanted to do, eat mac

and cheese, swing, or go in the stander. I asked her to use her switch when

I said which one she wanted. Eat? Blank stare, no eye contact. Swing? Look

ed at me, hit switch, smiled, nodded her head, and said Yeah, Yeah! Stander?

Frowned , shook her head, and said No. We also worked on rolling over. I

tell her what body parts to move, step by step, tickling/stimulating the area

she has to move, telling her to bend or straighten right or left arm or leg.

Staci's aide reached out to help Staci. I asked her to let Staci do it

herself, please. Staci did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thinking she can do it,

letting her do it step by step is such a change of mindset!!! I love it!

Take care,

Love and Prayers,
