Breta,

I am sorry to hear of your experience. After a similar experience, I also

had difficulty sleeping, which became an afib issue for me. My E.P. tells me

that loss of sleep can definitely be an afib trigger. It's fortunate that you

have kept afib away so far, but continued loss of sleep could create afib

problems for you.

I don't know if your meds could cause sleeplessness, but I do know that fear

can do so! I strongly suspect that it is stress rather than your meds that is

causing your sleeplessness. The same anxiety could also trigger afib if you

can't solve this problem, but I guess I don't have to tell you that. After my

experience with a would-be intruder, I found that installation of an alarm

system that automatically calls for police aid upon a break-in really helped me

to sleep again and it was well worth the expense. Like you, I didn't want to

get involved with sleep-inducing drugs, so I tried exercise, staying up late,

getting up early, and numerous other " natural " remedies for sleeplessness

(everything except hot milk!), but none were completely effective. Now I just

press that button to set the alarm, immediately feel very secure, and go to

sleep

peacefully. Whether my feelings of security are justified by actual

effectiveness of that alarm has not been tested since there have been no more

incidents, perhaps because of a sign in my front yard, announcing that I have an

alarm

system. I guess the important thing is that I think I am safe, whether I

actually am or not. I hope I never have occasion to find out if that alarm

works! Anyway, you might consider this remedy if your sleeplessness continues.

Good luck.
