Guest guest
Some DR's start puree in the hospital even but I am not sure on the protocol but mom (vitalady) said we can eat two ounces every two hours and your protein is very important and you must get them and water down as soon as possible bad things happen when you don't get water . what I did when I was preop was concentrate on my water and I would try to feel it drain from my pouch and get another sip so basically I would have my bottle with me at all times and I would sip sip sip all day long at least till I got to 48 ounces of water just be patient and keep trying and more water will keep that hunger away till hour three rolls around TN * good luck * Help please?? so confused > Wow! guess im a bit confused about now, ....i am week post op and my doctor > sent me home on pureed diet...im thinking by all the posts im reading this > isn't really normal?? > my problem is im eating my 3 oz of waterever(cream of wheat, lite yougurt, > etc) and by hour 2 im hungry again and i was told to eat every 3 hours???? > Then he other problem im having is how to fit more protein shakes in...right > now, ive only been getting one in a day. Guest guest
Re-organize. All those carbs are making you hungry. Do more protein, less of the oatmeal & yogurt. You'll feel more satisfied. Guest guest
Start doing soups, back off of the carbs and figure out a schedule that best suits your day. If you feel you can't eat that many times a day, instead of eating the in-between meals add a protein instead. Protein helps in more ways than ya believe. It's a wonderful meal, wonderful drink and for me its comforting. So say you start your day off at say 7am: 7am: Protein 7:30 Breakfast & Vits 8:00 Water 10:00 Protein 10:30 water 12:00 Lunch 12:30 Water & vits 2:00 Protein 2:10 Water 4:00 Protein 5/6 Dinner & Vits 1/2 hr later water 8 sf popsicle or sf treat or PROTEIN You can start your water intake right after you drink your protein you don't have to wait but I normally wait a little bit just so I don't over load myself. And depending on what vitamins you take depends on when you take them. This is only an example. Hope this kind of helps. Guest guest
Angie - My instructions are to stop drinking 30 minutes before a meal and don't start again until 30 minutes after. All the time in between you should be drinking. You can alternate say 16 - 24 oz. of water, then a protein drink. You'll find that this fills you up so much that when the 3 hour mark comes, you may not even be hungry. Good luck. It takes practice to make it all work. Guest guest
At 1-2 wks. postop I struggled to get liquids down PERIOD! Sip, sip, sip, sip. My first foods were PUREED home made veggie soup. I drank prebottled Isopure zero carb grape sipping constantly for protein. Move slowly with advancing to food. Focus on liquids! Guest guest
Here's a few suggestions for the first month after surgery. It is common for plain water to irritate your new pouch. For me, 1/3 to 1/2 strength gatorade/juice (1st week only), sugar free jello, homemade broth (frozen in ice cube trays to be reheated later), and sugar free popsicles & Dole no sugar fruit juice popsicles were what I tolerated best the first week postop. I like Snapple diet cran- rasberry to drink or Crystle Light. Then I made vegetable soup, pureeded it and froze it in ice cube trays. Creamed soup tasted good after 10 days postop. After 2 wks postop I ate plain yogurt blended with frozen fruit, Isopure protein drinks (daily) blended with frozen fruit/ice or skim milk, mashed black beans, diced shrimp, mashed potatoes, smear of peanut butter on a triscut, mozarrello cheese sticks with bites of a triscut cracker, and sugar free pudding. Guest guest
Hi, I am new on line and I received 85 e-mail massages and yours was very good. I have two more test to go through and I hope by the end of Sept or some time in Aug. I will have surgery. I have been looking for so long for some one that would talk about what they eat after the surgery. Thank you so much for the feed back.
