Guest guest
Hi, My name is Jules and my younger son, , will be receiving a helmet soon. He is 9 months old and has a uniformly flat head in back (called brachycephaly I believe). My older son had the more common plagio on one side and was never treated as the pediatrician didn't feel it was necessary and we didn't know any better. is now 27 months old and while his head has rounded out well he still has ears that are slightly uneven and I wish we had had him evaluated when he was younger. It took a while with but we finally got a consultation with a cranial/facial surgeon which was 2 days ago. He said is quite severe and should be helmeted. Since he's already 9 months old we don't plan to wait for our insurance but will pay up-front and try to get reimbursed later. Has this worked for others? We can't afford to wait for months with for an approval that might never come because we have such a limited time to get any true benefit from the helmet. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with it all and am frustrated that I didn't push for this earlier especially given our experience with our older son. Thanks and I hope to get to know some of you through this process. Jules 02/02/
