Guest guest
Hi everyone, I just returned from the 16 week level II ultrasound with a perinatologist. The good news is that the baby is fine. He or she is measuring on schedule for 16 weeks. They couldn't determine the sex, he or she was in a bad position and the ultrasound was a little early for this. The best news was that there were no markers seen for Down's or other chromosomal abnormalities, but this isn't 100% accurate of course. The only way to get 100% determination is by amnio. I will wait for the expanded AFP triple screen blood tests results before I decide to do an amnio or not. I am still leaning toward not doing it because of my bleeding episodes. Now the placenta. It turns out that I have placenta previa! This may be the reason for my bleeding episodes. Placenta previa is when the placenta is covering the cervix. The clinical symptoms can be bleeding and until the placenta moves off the cervix it may continue to bleed. The perinatologist said that if placenta moves off the cevix, it usually does so around 24 or 25 weeks. So, I have to stay on modified bedrest until then. I am actually relieved that i may have a reason for my bleeding! And the good news is that he saw no indication of the placenta embedding into the uterus yet.....but I still could have placenta accreta, just not the major type of embedding that is the most severe. So, so far so good. In summary, I may have a normal pregnancy in 2 months, or i may have to stay in bed for the remainder of the pregnancy. At this point I am accepting either way, just as long as I know the baby is healthy. I will let you know what happens next! Thanks.
Guest guest
Hi , I saw Dr. Indman yesterday! Things are moving forward. I am having my first Operative Hysteroscopy this Friday afternoon! He is going to do it in his office. He received your e-mail and he is keeping his fingers crossed for you. One of my girlfriends had placenta previa, she was on bed-rest for about a month. She carried to full term and her daughter was a health 8lbs. I am thinking of you and I am praying for you. Thank you for your help. You gave me that extra push I needed to become my own avocate and see the best Dr. Carol in California __________________________________________________ Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help?
