a few viruses (p.s. to Jodi) & recent study on asthma/viruses

Hi Jodi,

Just re-read your message and caught that " a few viruses " line. Meagan has

pretty much ALWAYS got a virus of some sort or other, and it's been that way

since birth (same with my other daughter, no CF, and same with myself-- we

all have asthma and allergies, and we're virus magnets! We all have normal

immunities, though). On medscape I read the other day that there's a recent

study that compared 50 kids with moderate asthma to 20 kids without, all

healthy-appearing at the time of the study. 80% of the kids with asthma had

viruses in the nasal-pharangyl cultures, and only one of the kids without

asthma did. It's a small study, but it really does drive home the idea that

kids with asthma get more viruses, and always seem to have one hanging

around even when they don't look that sick.
