Call and have them send you copy of your lab results and post them here. They probably only did a TSH. You need to have Free T4 and Free T3 tests which show the actual level of hormones available at the cellular level. Cindi

Guest guest
> Groan..... diagnosed with FMS... I have high Cholesterol > High BP and taking meds. Oh boy Hun! You sound hypo to me. Classic signs right there. Labs mean little and did they even give you the numbers of what normal is?? Boy oh boy. If you are impatient and would like to try this out on your own, Dr. Derry says that if you are treated with thryoid hormone (natural desiccated would be a good start) and it does not clear up any symptoms, then you know that the normal labs were correct and you do not need thyroid hormone. This would mean self treating until you can get some more labs done etc... I don't know how bad of shape you are in, but it sounds like you have been hypo for a while. If you get tests done (and you'd rather wait to see if you can get treatment through him/her), don't forget to get the antibodies tests!!! I never had these done, and my labs were normal in the past. I had two babies (big triggers) in a 20 month period and my TSH rose just enough out of range for them to treat me. My other thyroid labs were normal. I had just about ever hypo symptom at that time. A few months later they took my antibodies test and I had sky-high antibodies over 1000. SO there you go. Everybody is different and labs mean dittle squat for the most part. I am 32, and I believe I have been dealing with Hashimoto's now for at least 15 years, but I suspect perhaps even longer. P.S. do you have any family memebers with thyroid disease? Guest guest
Hi....can you get your actual test results from the doc? It would help to see your " numbers " ...some docs ideas of " normal " are bit too all inclusive...and who knows what is normal for you? Did hew test for T4 and T3 levels? If he only tested TSH then it isn't really enough to go on... others here should leap in soon with more suggestions..they are more experienced than me.. I wish you well, Fluffy > Thanks Vicki for the intro to this group. > > OK, so here goes, and please be gentle with me :-) > > Groan..... diagnosed with FMS > > Has been suggested by a person that I may consider looking into IF my > thyroid function is ? low is that hypo? > > GP did a blood test and said ALL WAS NORMAL with my thyroid so that could > not be my problem. > > I have high Cholesterol > High BP and taking meds > > Q.
