UNICEF invites applications for Consultant – HIV AIDS for Adolescent

Education Programme (AEP)

Location: Bihar, Last Date: February 10, 2008

Duration: Initial for 11 months, renewable subject to performance and

fund availability

Purpose: UNICEF supports SCERT in implementing Adolescent Education

Programme for Class IX to Class XII across government schools in all

districts of the state to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS. The

Consultant would be required to work with SCERT, Department of

Education, BSACS and UNICEF to monitor and support the AEP related

work in of the state.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in all AEP related activities

• Monitor the progress of AEP with District Education Officers,

Department of Education, SCERT, BSACS, UNICEF – Patna, Partner

Agencies and other institutions for strengthening and scaling up of

AEP in all 38 districts of the state.

• Monitor and manage the implementation of AEP in all government

secondary schools where programme is functional

• Provide support to scale up the AEP to the Maddarsas and Private

Schools within the state.

• Co-ordinate with DEOs and other focal persons at district level for

submission of AEP Monthly Report to the Department of Education.

Provide them with technical support and assists DEOs in AEP planning

and delivery.

• Consolidate and compile the monthly reports submitted by the

districts and share the same with Department of Education, BSACS, and

UNICEF – Patna.

• To document lessons learnt and success stories.

• Review and finalize the programme related publications for e.g.

National Toolkit Material, Research findings, study reports, seminar

papers etc.

• Maintain database of partner organisations

• Organize training and other capacity building activities for AEP.

Co-ordinate translation, adaptation and development of training and

communication materials for in-school and out of school youth.

• Facilitate identication of partner organisations for the prevention

of HIV AIDS among youth.

Minimum Qualification and Experience required:

• Graduate/ Post Graduate degree in HIV/AIDS or Social Science;

• More than 3 years of experience in HIV/AIDS especially in

Adolescent Education and Women Empowerment.

• Good writing and communication skills in Hindi and English;

• Computer Skills in database management and report compilation;

• Conduct training and field study
