Guest guest
I have a few questions---- Have you all had much luck in reshaping the forehead on DOC band #1? Cameron has been banded since 8-24-04 and we have seen alot of progress esp. in the rounding in the back right side. Hoping for front left forehead area to fill more. We are considering a graduation time of Thanksgiving. I am willing to go until the holiday time in December. Our insurance has not paid for the band, so the second will not be an option for us. Although I am still working on an appeal. Cam is 9 months and will have been banded 12 weeks by the end of this month. Cranial Tech has not been pushing for second band. I am wondering how much will continue to round on it's own. I feel his torticollis has really resolved. We have not been to PT in many months. Anyone have any experience with this? I know I cannot expect perfection and I'm ok with that. Some assymmetry will always be there. thank you, Joanne
Guest guest
Hi Joanne I had exactly the same issue with my daughter, who had seen excellent back rounding, but still had the forehead to go after 2 1/2 months...My specialist warned me that the back rounds first, then the forehead and the ears pull into line last- and I did find that to be the case. My daughter's forehead rounded out significantly in the last month (month four in the band) and it did look a lot better. Obviously I can't say what will happen with your little one, but there is every reason to think there might be improvement there. My daughter was 6 1/2/ months when banded and was severe (2.3cm), if that helps for comparison. We didn't have a DOC band, but something very similar. It was usually worn for four months, but could go up to six months if necessary. Things can change in the last month or so, I guess you just can't depend on it. But you could certainly wait and see how you feel at the end of this period. From what I understand, the risk of regression is minimal by your son's age, so you could always let the band grow out, and if you still feel unhappy, you can always get a second band. It may be by Thanksgiving though, that this isn't an issue. Let's pray for a good old growth spurt in this last month! Guest guest
Joanne, My daughter's forehead filled in well. She actually saw improvement there in the first 4 weeks, more so than her ears. You can view her pics ... B & A na Regular na from Family Website Good Pic in between her 2 bands really good before pic She really had no temple on the right side. Now she does. She had 2 bands, but her temple was becoming evident in the first as you can see from pics. mom to na DOC Grad SCJoanne Muench <jojotalk@...> wrote: I have a few questions---- Have you all had much luck in reshaping the forehead on DOC band #1? Guest guest
I'm sorry. I don't have any experience with this. Although my son had classic plagio in the back his forehead was not affected. Hopefully Cameron's will even out. Good luck!
