HPV is considered the main cause of it. That is why anyone with HPV needs tested

every 6 months. Aside from that, I don't know, but to the best of my knowledge

other than a lowered immune issue, the thyroid or Hashi has nothing to do with

it.

Can anyone tell me if cervical dysplasia (pre-cancerous cells of the

cervix) are related to Hashimoto's or thyroid disease? Just curious

because my mother has battled painful periods, ovarian cysts, and

pre-cancerous cervical cells for years and years now. I wonder if

there is a relation. \

I remember when I was a kid, she would be doubled over in horrible

pain from her periods. She used to have to take a drug called ponstan

or something like that. She has had these abnormal paps off and on for

many years. I asked her if they looked for HPV last summer and she

didn't know, but said they checked for everything. She is on HRT and

that really scares me because we already have those fibrocystic

breasts. Taking HRT gives you a 100% high chance of getting breast

cancer. SInce we are already predisposed with this lumpoy breat thing,

I really want her to try some natural alternatives. She said she is

reluctant because she was a complete mess before hormones and they

gave her energy and got rid of some of the irritablility and physical

symptoms.

Hi, Cindi,

I've been on Armour for 4 years. (I was on Synthroid for 25 years). I recently

saw my GYN

and she discovered a fibroid and a slightly thickened uterine lining. I had the

biopsy done and

was told I was OK. However, I've been tested to switch from regular HRT to

natural HRT. I'm

hoping this will get rid of these problems. Estrogen dominance can certainly

cause these problems.

I do have some e-mails with info on this if you're interested.

Take care!

Thanks ...but I actually have done a lot of research in the past on

Estrogen Dominance when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with me...when

the thyroid labs were " normal " . I have used natural progesterone cream with

success before being diagnosed hypo. As I got sicker, I just sorta stopped

it...but plan to get back on it now that I'm sorta stable with the Armour.

I understand where your mom is coming from - I have the fibrocystic breasts -

and am on estrogen replacement only - probably a big mistake. My sister went off

of her HRT and we really thought she lost it - she got so mentally confused - we

still are wondering if she actually has early alzheimers - she's back on hrt -

and doing better - not 100% though. The symptoms seem somehow worse than when

our parents went thru this. not sure why - or if we just think it is. my mom had

no problems - ever!

I've always had problems, since my very first period. I had debiliatating

cramps. Have had surgeries for endometriosis, male hormones for endo - now have

only one avary because the endometriosis cysts on the right one were so severe

it had to be removed. I've had a few cysts on my remaining left one, but not

bad. My 1st abnormal pap was done just prior to my uterous & cervix being

removed, so it didn't matter. this was in 1991.

I am, however, going to talk to my gyny about bio-identical hormones. I talked

to my sister too, and she promised she'd ask about her thyroid and bio-identical

hormones. She has an apt. this summer.

My aunt took replacement hormones for a while - and was having trouble. let me

tell you - I wouldn't be taking them at late 60's and still be having periods -

no way, now how!! I never had a period that didn't have me so ill and in so much

pain that I could function.

now - my daughter is 17. She started out ok, but last summer, she started with

the nasty ones. pains, nauseousness. I prayed she wouldn't be like me.

After I very first started having HYPERthyroid symptoms, I started the heavy

ongoing periods, more cramps, fibroid tumors, cervical dysplasia, with

documented evidence of no progesterone, but plenty of estrogen dominance. What

I finally got out of this was a hysterectomy, but, of course, went on to learn

many yrs later that it was thyroid disease that cause the whole thing. It's

sort of one of those which came first, the chicken or the egg things. We've all

noticed that there's an awful lot of us who had progesterone loss even back into

our 20s, so it wasn't an " aging " thing. I don't regret the hyst because, after

the surgery, I felt like someone had removed a rather large cannon ball from my

insides!

oh, I agree -

my dr. first was only going to remove my damaged ovary - but with endometriosis

so bad, I said - you know, it will just come back - he agreed. I was so

relieved. of course, I still have endometrial tissue because the hormones feed

it - and it couldn't all be removed because there are implants on my intestines

and bladder. Still - a lot could have been thyroid related - hard to tell

though - those problems started very young for me.

Have you read Dr. Lee's book, " What Your Doctor May NOT Tell You About

Menopause " ? There's one on perimenopause too. I've only read the one on

menopause. Excellent book.

Hi, ,

When you mention natural alternatives, do you mean the bio-identical hormones?

And she's

saying the HRT prescription drugs gave her energy and got rid of the

irritability and physical

symptoms? Well, the natural progesterone is supposed to help the fibrocystic

breasts. Taking

estrogen without opposing progesterone gives you the higher chance of breast

cancer. And

the drug companies' HRT can give you a better chance for heart disease too. But

not the

natural bio-identical hormones. The natural progesterone should give her energy

as well

and I would think help with whatever symptoms she's talking about. I have a long

list of

symptoms caused by estrogen dominance. And using the natural progesterone helps.

I used to have pain with my periods. But that went away after I had my first

baby. I don't

know why.

Hi, Cris,

Thanks for sending this. It does look very good. I have seen this doctor's page

on adrenals, I think it was.

But I haven't read it all yet. But this looks excellent as well.

I just sent my e-mails to you. You will see that yes, there's estrogen dominance

and info on natural

progesterone. One page is an interview with Dr. Lee and Dr. . Dr. Lee was

the expert on

progesterone and he coined the phrase " estrogen dominance " . Dr. is the

expert on the

estrogens. I found the interview with them very interesting. I hope you will

find something there

to be of some help to you.

I was just on amazon - I ordered 2 books - used ones. 1st time I've ordered,

that it paid to go with used books. This is one I ordered. I still want the

other mary shomon's book - but it wasn't a good deal used - so I'll wait to see

if I buy any thing else - thru amazon, to get their free shipping. That one book

that is almost $50.00 perhaps - if it is truly worth spending that much. The

other book I just bought was the Thyroid solution. it was only available used.

I've never used e-bay....I'm afraid of it!! LOL
