Atkins will work very well, but if you are looking for a book, I

highly recommend " Dr Bernstein's Diabetes Solution " by Dr

Bernstein as being a preferable choice. Bernstein's low-carb diet is

very similar to the Atkins " induction phase " , differing only in minor

details.

The Atkins book(s) is(are) focused on weight-loss, with a small part

about diabetes. Dr B's book is totally focused on diabetes and is,

IMHO, a real education about the disease, its horrendous complications

(if uncontrolled) and how to possibly delay or avoid them altogether,

and how to control with a minimum of medications (none in many cases).

I believe it is still available from Bayer Corp in paperback for

$8.00. I don't have the 800 phone number at my fingertips, but can

find it if you are interested.

I personally feel thaat Dr B's book literally saved my life.

There are " recommended reading " links at the end of these posts that

will lead you to Dr B's website also.

Here's the ordering info. I think it's still available. Vicki

The book is called " D. Bernstein's Diabetes Solutions " by K.

Bernstein, M.D. It's available in hardback and paperback but the paperback is

only available from Bayer. Call Bayer direct at 1- and request

Part #0441445. Their ordering lines are open 8 am - 5 pm eastern standard

time. They take Visa or MasterCard.
