Guest guest
Hi Jamy You know there is something in that. One of the major problems I have with my health is the long winters over here in the UK. I am convinced I have SAD and have invested in a special bedside lamp that simulates sunlight during the winter months but it doesn't help too much. My depression is very severe from October til March. I really hate it and on the last letter from my doctor she actually recommended " sunshine " for people with thyroid/CFS. SheilaF > I used to live in AK for 6 1/2 years. It is amazing how many people have thyroid issues. I wonder if it is the 6 months of dark since most of us seem to need sunlight for feeling well. Guest guest
I get up, get my coffee, and walk outside when I wake up for at least the cup of coffee. Guest guest
I too feel I suffer from SAD and fight depression in the winter, but I have read on this group that the thyroid often slows even more in the winter months and a slight increase in dosage could be just the ticket. Guest guest
That's one thing that is keeping me from moving to Europe. Weather wise we can have 9 months of winter (1st snow in Sept - last hard freeze and snow in May.) BUT on Dec 21 we have 8 hours of daylight. On June 21 we probably have about 12 hours. Let's see, on Dec 21 Wigan has about 4 hours daylight and Stockholm has practically none. I'll take our blizzards, sub zero weather and our daylight. Guest guest
I work from home, so even in CA in the summer, I have to make sure I go outside!
