Guest guest
Hi Jill, The Aetna insurance policy bulletin has a standard deviation matrix that might be worth a look in determining how many standard deviations 's brachy is... Here is the link to the policy - just scroll down to the cephalic ration matrix: Aetna Clinical Policy Bulletin #0379: Cranial Remolding Band/Helmet Aetna considers the use of a cranial remodeling band as durable medical equipment medically necessary for moderate to severe positional head deformities associated with premature birth, restrictive intrauterine positioning, cervical abnormalities, birth trauma, torticollis (shortening of the sternocleidomastoid muscle) and sleeping positions in children after 4 months and before 18 months of age when the following conditions are met... http://www.aetna.com/cpb/data/CPBA0379.html I think a 95.4 would be about 3 1/2 standard deviations from the norm (?) We started aggressively repo'ing our daughter Remy at 5 months of age; I estimated her cephalic ration to be 100 at the start of our repo! We aggressively repo'd her for several months just to get where 's measurement is now - I think it's great that you are already going to be in a helmet at about that same younger age with a much lower cephalic ratio to start. should see great improvement! I think some insurance companies won't even cover treatment unless the standard deviation is at least 2 away from the norm - perhaps any measurement within 2 standard deviations could be considered within an aesthetically acceptable spectrum. I can tell you that every mm of improvement to the cephalic ratio translates into tremendous improvement in how the headshape looks visually. I hope this information helps, Christie (Mom to Repo'd Remy) > > > > Our son Kellan was fitted with his helmet this afternoon. It went > > well, with a few adjustments needed.
