Guest guest
My baby did not have brachy. But I do know that lots of brachy babies get treated at CT and they have the kind of helmet that you got, with the opening on top of the head. It still works. The head will fill out in back before it grows up. I know how frustrating and scary it all is, but at seven mos your child will get nice correction and you can trust in CT, you really can. I personally had no idea how 's helmet worked. It looked like a toy from the party store and clearly didn't fit him--wobbled all over the place, bent his ears over, covered one eye sometimes, and you could fit a sandwich in there on his flat side. But CT is so good that, as I have said before, they could have wrapped his head in duct tape and added a piece of boloney on top and I would have been happy. The end result is what counts. looks sooo good now. If we could just do something about the bad smells he would be perfect. When the helmet is made, the creator takes the cast and adds material to make the head a normal shape. Then she makes the helmet that will guide the head into growing the correct shape. If she (or he) made that helmet for your son, then rest assured it is the right kind. His head won't grow up or out any more, just back. , 23 mos, DOC Grad 9/7 --- In Plagiocephaly , " cowtroy8 " <cowtroy8@a...> wrote: > > Ok, here is the long story. Guest guest
HI Marcy, I don't think I was one of the people who talked about this with you in the past, but I can tell you that there is NO such thing as a " brachy " band. The clinician who told you that the lip all the way accross the back is just a holding point is correct, it is not there to prevent further height. YOu don't need to worry about it growing in height anyway when he's in a band, b/c it's laying flat on an incline that will make his head like this, and obviously he can't do that w/the band on. They addressed this in the moderator conference us mods went to back in March, but when this question was being debated here a month or two back, I emailed Carol son for clarification. She confirmed again that the tops are only for suspension and that a side opening band will still address the brachy. Guest guest
I agree also with and . The band, wether it has a top peice or not, is going to be different looking regardless. One creator makes each band so every single one is a custom design. My son did have the top peice, but it never actually touched his head. He received great correction especially with his head height. If you are still feeling anxious you can see for yourself in the D folder under plagio kids. I think he still has another photo album under DOCband photos as well. Guest guest
Hi . I am sure I can trust them at CT and that is why I left there saying " ok, you all know what you are doing " . I really do trust them and have confindence in them, but they confuse me. The clinician contradicts herself. I really like her, but I am not sure what to think. She first says that it doesn't hold the height, but then when I asked her who is the other band intended for? What kind of head shape? When do they make those type of bands? She says it is for babies that have very bad head height...So that means that it holds the height, right? I don't know. I guess I am looking into things too much. I should be more like you and just let the professionals do their job. I guess its just because I am paying $6000 out of my pocket and I just want this to work out for the best!! Thanks for your reassurance . Marcy and (7 months) 2 months in DOC band # 1 Now in Doc band #2 New Jersey > > > > Ok, here is the long story. Guest guest
Marcy, that made me cackle--I don't trust ANYBODY!!! Not one single person, ever, not after what happened to . You are absolutely right to question this and dig deeper and try to get all the information. CT just seemed so professional and knowledgeable to me, and they were the only chance had at correction, so I closed my eyes and put my faith in them. I had no choice. They came through for and somehow got him round again. If he had been seven months old I probably would have bugged them to death with questions and demands about every little thing. Keep bugging and questioning! But do it here too and hopefully others can reassure you. , 23 mos, DOC Grad 9/7 > > > > > > Ok, here is the long story.
