Hi Mike,

Thought I'd step in, because I just finished a book that

explained REBT.

REBT emphasizes thinking and emotions and how they affect

behavior. It teaches us to recogonize that often our thinking

is irrational and hinders effective living. If we learn to

change our thinking, then we will change how we feel and

behave.

The book is called Alcohol: How to give it up and be glad

you Did by Philip Tate.

I think that there might be something on REBT at the SMART

website also.

Hi Sue,

Thanks, I'll have to take a look for the book. You sound like your

beginning to find yourself. The thoughts in your head may be like mine, I

found in the end, I was just trying to make sence of the built up anger

that was beginning to flow out of me. I had just began to see the

manipulation and everything was kind of running together. When little

pieces started to fit together and I could recognize them for what they

were, the voices started to go away. Keep posting, your messages help me a

lot some days. I don't always get a chance to answer or comment, but I try

to read everyones posts on here. Different views make life what it realy

is. The one thing AA never let us have, the ability to agree to disagree.

I didn't have the time to get on with my opinion of the Fez, and this isn't

intended to be aimed at you or anyone else, but kicking him off the list

was the right thing to do. I think Matt had some deep emotional scars, and

the garbage that was being slung at him must have cut deep and opened a lot

of old wounds. I peronally hope this list will always remain here to help

heal, not hurt.

<< To Mike and Pete,

Please do nto connect RR with SMART. RR was wrong when I connected it'self

to SMART and REBT. The use of AVRT is plenty of information and

understanding to stop any addiction. Also RR is focused on " never " drinking

or using ever again, VIa the Big Plan. Please checkout www.rational.org >>

A slight correction, the Rational Recovery web page is at:
