Guest guest
Hi All, I have been getting B-12 shots at my Dr's. office. This has really helped bring my levels up but I can't continue to do this at the current price. It is costing me around $92 a shot and my insurance does not cover them. I wanted to know if anyone gives themselves B-12 shots?? If so, is a prescription from a Dr. required and can the serum be purchased somewhere online? If so, is a prescription from a Dr. required and can the serum be purchased somewhere online? My doctor gave me a prescription for B12 shots, 2, one every two weeks. They cost about $10. But they have aluminum in them. I am going to try to get something without when I refill. Dorothy

Guest guest
Yikes, , I just started getting B-12 with Folic Acid shots at my Doc's and the nurse gives them to me and for that, it's only $35. She says it would be much cheaper for me to give them to myself and she would order in the syringes, etc. for me. So I can't imagine why one would be $92! Mine are 1000 mgs B-12, with 5 mgs. Folic. I'm in Florida, so I don't know if location has something to do with it, it shouldn't. We'll have to see if anyone has a source to purchase without a scrip. Best wishes, > > Hi All, > > I have been getting B-12 shots at my Dr's. office. This has really helped bring my levels up but I can't continue to do this at the current price. Guest guest
I did. It's very easy. But I didn't like the way I was feeling with them. Guest guest
I have not had a shot for two months now because of the cost. I was getting them weekly and then monthly for a few months but I just cannot afford to continue at this rate. I'm hoping that my levels have not fallen back down. I currently take a B-12 supplement and I will get labs done this next week so we will see. I have to pay for an office visit each time I go in for the shot...$40--crazy, and I don't even see the Dr. I just get the shot from the nurse and I'm done. I then I have to pay $55 for the actual shot. If my levels are back down I will have to find another source in order to give these shots to myself. Again, always at the mercy of Dr's. and they seem to be able to charge anything. My insurance does not pay for any vitamin supplementation whether it is via a shot or whatever. If anyone does have an internet source I hope they will speak up. I will call the Dr. tomorrow and see if I can get a vial of the B-12 serum. It will probably be an outrageous price. > > > > Hi All, > > > > I have been getting B-12 shots at my Dr's. office. Just tell him you want a prescription to do your own shots because of the cost. It is easy. the pharmacy gave me the needles with the vials. dorothy

Guest guest
My doctor only charges $20, I would maybe shop around, like a clinic or now some CVS and other pharmacies have a nurse and they give various shots.
Guest guest
Here is some info for those who are doing or want to do B12 injections: First if you haven't already, find a good alternative Doc or a DAN Doc( not many of either). Secondly, the B12 should be preservative free, Methyl-B12, and require refrigeration. The best part is you can use needles of insulin size and length(small) and inject several different ways which beats the HELL out of the OLD METHOD of LARGE, LONG and painful needles into the muscle. See attachment about info and method of injections Autism sites and DAN Docs are great resources in general!! Tony > > > I have not had a shot for two months now because of the cost. I can't find what MLAME means. Must be from American Regent. Dorothy
