Yes, Rita, I think they're great, but you must get the CARB CONTROL ones.

The other kind (same packaging) has many carbs. So far I have given 3

4-packs to my assistant, because I didn't take the time to make sure it said

" Carb Control " .

I have one in the soft sided cooler under my desk right now. I'm

partial to the chocolate fudge flavor, and if it's not cold I just

pour it over ice.

Sixty calories for protein (15 g x 4), 8 calories for carbs (2g x 4), means

there's 42 calories of fats (divide by 9 = 4.7 g). Is that what the label

shows?

You can get them online at low carb sites, at most health food stores

like GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe, and our local Sam's Club has started

carrying them. There is a version called EAS Myloplex Low Carb that

is essentially the same thing as Advant Edge. Just make sure you get

the low carb version of either one.

110 calories: It has 4 g. of fat, 0 g. saturated fat, (36 calories)

15 g. protein, (60 calories), 2 g. of [effective] carbs (8 calories),

2 g. fiber, less than 1 g. sugar, but it does contain maltodextrin

and sucralose. The fiber is also already subtracted from the carb

total, so there are really 4 g. of carbs. (16 calories). That's 112

calories, but the gram totals are probably rounded off on the label

and not in the calorie count.

The sugar alcohols mentioned are reduced calorie sweeteners, but they are

not calorie free, so they will contribute to the total calorie count. If I

recollect correctly, they have about 1/2 the calories of sugars (and are

allowed to be so counted under US labeling laws). They are generally

metabolized differently than sugars (without needing much insulin), so many

of us find that they have minimal blood sugar impact. However, some people

find that they do cause blood sugar spikes. YMMV.
