Guest guest
We probably need several someones to chime in here because this is a puzzler to me. The pituitary is putting out too much stimulating hormone, but why? The reason I ask this is because his T4 is entirely too high, and it frankly LOOKS like true hyperthyroid, yet why all that TSH production, if the thyroid is making more than enough hormone. On the other hand, he has thyroid antibodies out the cazoo, which means there isn't going to be a good-working thyroid before long. From the way you described him, his body is HYPOthyroid, though. You said a T4 of 5. That is definitely hyper, so I don't understand what gives here. I'm wondering if this is a hypothalamic problem? I'm not understanding how he can be putting out this ungodly amt of T4, but still be overweight as he is. Anybody else understand this? Maca is a plant, and someone just posted, I think, about the type that grows up in the Andes Mts is the true medicinal maca. Test Results Q & Natural Sources product I would like to know if anyone has experience with any of the following: Raw Thyroid by Natural Sources Rhodiola Rosea by Gaia Herbs Adrenalift by Herbs America/Maca Magic Now that I know I have low basal temp and throughout the day and all the symptoms (even genetically) I began taking the Raw Thyroid (2 a day)and Rhodiola for the past 2 days. My temperature went up dramatically (from 95 to in the 97.5-98 range along with my energy level, visual sharpness and less hurting feet. I am really curious to see if this will last. Does anyone have experience with the Thyroid product from Natural Sources compared to Armour? My husband, on the other hand, shows no difference as yet, so I have ordered the Adrenalift product. On another note, the testing done on him showed as follows: TSH - 14.3 T4 - 5 T3 - 151 Anti-Thyroid Antibodies Thyroid Peroxidase - 1,750 H IU/mL (verified by repeat analysis) Thyroid Antithyroglobulin AB - 135 H IU/mL I would appreciate it very much if someone could let me know the significance of his reading, especially with respect to the Anti-Thyroid Antibodies, which seems so high. He's overweight and very low energy. The test was done by a physician who prescribed Synthroid, which he's not going to do, thanks to the feedback from reading this group. Guest guest
On the lab results for Art (my husband) next to the TSH results of 14 ..283 uIU/mL it said reference range 0.250-5.500; Next to the T4 results of 5 it said that the reference range is 4.5-12.0; Next to the T3 results of 151 ng/dL it siad reference range 85 - 205; The Thyroxine (T4)Free, Direct, and T4 Free, Free(Direct result is 1.07 ng/dL and next to that it says reference interval .06-1.7 TA; The Triiodothyronine (T3) is 119 ng/dL, and next to that it says reference interval 85-205 TA. Maybe he additional free T4 result can shed some more light on the mystery of what is going on with him. I realize from what you're saying that the matter has to be addressed right away.l I just read an interesting article at www. planetherbs.com/articles/thyroid.html. The basic theory is that we are all getting too much radiation as a result of fallout in the air from nuclear testing. If the thyroid is not supplied with enough iodine through diet it will absorb this radiation and cause thyroid dysfunction due to radiation burnout. The author, Drum says that the problem can be solved by supplying adequate dietary iodine as with a kelp mixture. We have just recently begun raw organic cream and butter as recommended by Sally Fallon in her book Nourishing Traditions, to get raw fats in the diet. ( Up until now we've been vegetarians for a long time, and I'm just now making major changes in following the great ideas in her book.) I am thinking that perhaps we are getting radiation via the milk since the cow's are out there grazing on the grass. I'm starting to culture even the cream and butter thinking that maybe that would neutralize any potential radiation. Also, Art husband spends almost all the time awake, that is, every waking hour, in front of the computer monitor. I was wondering if he is getting way too much radiation to the thyroid from the computer. So I've started on kelp mix (the author says 3-5 grams/day) and I'm going to look into BioSuperFood, which was used for the victims in Chernobyl. I am also gong to try to find out if a flat screen monitor puts out much less radiation, or no radiation. Topper - I read your response that the TSH receptors in the thyroid might not be working so TSH just keeps being produced in great numbers. In this case - what you went through - what can be done to correct it, and can it be permanently corrected? Some other symptoms he has besides overweight are candida, candida, candida, mild vitilago, and blood pressure on the high side. Oddly enough he doesn't seem to be sensitive to cold or to hot. Guest guest
> TSH: 14 > T4: 5 (4.5-12.0) > T3: 151 (85 - 205) > T4 Free, 1.07 (.06-1.7) > T3: 119 (85-205) I condensed the lab info to the above. Hope I got it right as I was deleting the words. Looking at it, it's confusing. His total T4 is low enough that he can't get enough T3 in the conversion to help him. Yet the free T4 looks fair. His T3 also is low in the second lab--why are there two T3 labs? The TSH appears to reflect a low T3....? On an optimal dose of Armour, my TSH is around .009, and my free T3 is just over the top of the range. Janie
