Guest guest
I have filled out an on-line application today for a full time medical transcription position, which allows for a recent college grad to have the 3 month probationary period, but it appears as if the job is NOT a salary or hourly, but paid by production or per-the-line. I would like to leave home plate and step onto this first base opportunity but I am wondering, as a recent grad, should I be going after a production type position first or should I wait? I have a feeling the local MedQuest office is offering the same sort of thing. Maybe employers are getting away from offering hourly to recent grads or anyone. Your off-list suggestion or comments about this question on my part, sure would be most appreciated. Thank you much, Hesitant Bill :-)
Guest guest
Why off line? I think we would all like to share the responses unless you are looking for critiques of companies? Guest guest
The only positions I know if these days which are paid hourly are for medical secretaries who also do transcription in an office or clinic setting. Almost every other MT-only position I've heard about lately is paid by some kind of production scale. There are variations, like line rate or page rate, but it's all headed toward that kind of production measurement. Personally I have issues with this, since you can't directly account for research time and things like that, but that's the model nearly everyone is using. J (who has a major dislike for MBAs and " efficiency models " about which they haven't a single practical clue) MTEC *graduate*, 1 chiropractic account (so far) old dog, new tricks, where's the bone?
