Guest guest
Don't actualy know- I was sent to a radiologist to be Dx- for a hystosalpinogram- because my OB's office couldn't see me for over a month-(and I was hysterical in the office by this point!) I'm having a follow up HSG tomorrow- don't know whether I'll see Dr Palter or not- I'll let you know! Guest guest
Hi Cheryl, Some drs. are there and some are not. Here in CA it seems quite typical to be sent to a radiology clinic for the HSG. This usually means that your regular OB/RE is not present. But the radiologist sends a report and the films to the OB or RE afterwards. My RE tried to send me to a radiology clinic for my HSG, but I asked my OB/GYN to do it instead. My OB/GYN is a very kind and gentle doctor and I knew I would feel better with him than with some radiologist I'd never seen before. So, my OB/GYN was there but my RE was not. When I saw Dr. Olive (for surgery consult), I asked him if he did his own HSGs or not. He said he likes to do his own and would do mine if I requested. However, he has found that the radiologists in CA and TX (as opposed to the other places he has practiced: CT, AR, NC) consider the HSG to be their 'territory' and frown on having the OB/RE attend the HSG. Dr. Olive also mentioned that one of the reasons he likes to be there (besides comfort of the patient) is that you can tell more from watching while the cavity fills rather than just looking at the xray film later. pat > This is in regards to who ever posted about their HSG and only the > radiologist being in the room.
