Hi Donna. I also go to the CT in NJ. I don't know if you plan on

going ahead with the band whether your insurance covers it or not,

but I knew that I was going to get it either way. If you plan on

getting it no matter what: I called my son's Dr. and made sure they

faxed me the letter of med. nec. I then faxed it to Wanda and told

her that I would like to start treatment and not wait for insurance

verification. Well if I would have waited until we heard from

insurance I would have JUST gotten the band now! is 7 months

old. He has already had it for 2 months. I had a bad feeling about

waiting for insurance. I, just like you, wanted to get banded

ASAP. I didn't want to wait another day. To me it was a wasted day. I

had to pay $600 at the casting and another $1200 at some adjustments.

I just charged them. I got denied from insurance, but will appeal.

Like I said I was getting the band no matter what insurance said, so

there was no need to wait for their response before getting banded.

As soon as Wanda got the script from the Dr. we got the casting

appointment. is getting casted for his 2nd band this Tuesday.

I would call each and every person that you need to call to make sure

that everything is happening. Who cares if you annoy her? I'm sure

that you will be very polite. You are your child's best advocate and

voice! It is important to not let anything fall thru the cracks.

Hi,

You are talking about wanda in Paramus, right?

Hound your dr. its a PITA but otherwise it will take forever.

got his at 6 1/2 months and it would have been a lot longer if I

didn't make lots of phone calls. Now he is getting the band off in

2 weeks!! So I highly recommend getting it done ASAP. Good luck!

Donna,

I was just in the same boat you are. I hounded my Ped until they

gave me the letter and script. I waited in the office until it was

completed and I faxed the letter and script myself to make sure it

got done. I have BCBS NJ plus and Wanda called me 15 min. later

saying it was approved for 90%. I am also going to the Paramus

Cranial Tech. I told them skip the consultation as I knew I wanted

and needed the band and just scheduled the casting. They won't

schedule the casting until you have the script and letter though.

Calling Wanda at this point is not where you want to start.

Get to your Ped's office and demand the letter and script but try to

be nice about it. Wanda can't/won't really do anything without the

script and letter. Cranial Tech will call your insurance as soon as

they get the letter and script because then they know they are

getting paid.

Good luck and get that letter from your Ped ASAP.
