He can barely walk, so I'm having to keep a close eye on him to make sure he doesn't do something stupid. You know how stubborn a husband can be, especially when he's having to depend on his wife for everything. Something about that male ego that gets them in trouble. Hate to miss the workshop. The two other semi-regulars had something else to do and were absent. If any thing comes up for them, TOPS is the first to be ignored. Mind you, one of those two that was absent was to have presented the program. She called me about an hour before I left the house to tell me she wouldn't be there! Ugh! This week we talked about attracting more members, but the only thing we could come up with was for all of us to put in about $20 bucks apiece for a tiny ad in the newspaper, but none of us thought it would work, so we shot down our own idea. We're in the paper every week in the " Community Calendar " , have given out brochures, taken brochures to doctors offices, put them in teachers lounges, Curves, posted announcements at Wal-Mart, I've had a booth and spent the day at the hospital's health fair, etc. No interest. As individuals going about our daily lives, we talk up TOPS and tell everyone expressing any interest all about our group. We're just not getting anywhere. If we ever had any visitors and they didn't return, I'd wonder what we were doing wrong. We don't have visitors so we can't bore them if they don't come! So that can't be it. I just don't know what else we can do other than run an expensive newspaper ad. Suggestions are welcomed! Thank you for asking. Guest guest Posted May 15, 2005 Report Share Posted May 15, 2005 Hi Melody and , sorry you missed the workshop , we really did have a good time, there were 84 members there not counting the chapter that held it, so close to 100. Some really good ideas on contests and programs were passed out, I think Betty picked yours up Melody. It started out as a bad day with the rain and all but then it turned out really nice. you had better not go over and cough at Melody's as she would probably be the one to get sick?? And we sure need her to start this contest we are all waiting on,RIGHT, Sometimes these husbands of ours, dont know what to do with them and then don't know what we would do without them. I'm sorry I missed it too - I just KNEW it was gonna be a fun one - especially getting to share all those great ideas with each other I ran to Pleasanton this morning and dropped off our sharing papers with Betty so she would have them and then went and worked out at the gym a little too long and a little too hard - ah well...I'm sure it'll be hurting worse tomorrow LOL that'll teach me Melody Moris, Leader TOPS #Tx1454, Pleasanton http://www.texastops.org email: topsmama@...
