I hope I can explain how this group e-mail works so that you can understand. I'm really not to good at explaining things, but will try.

The group you joined is called PSC-Support - think of it as an address and Yahoogroups.com is the post office.

Everyone writes a letter (we call that posting) & puts (sends) it in to the post office. Yahoo then sends the letter to each of our computers. Once a letter is in our mailbox each of us can open it and read it.

Sometimes the letter may be addressed to you - like this one was (see the subject line with your name in it). Other times the letters will be addressed to other people - but you can still read all of them. (Right this very second over 600 people are reading this e-mail along with you - folks from Florida to California - Canada to Mexico and all over the rest of the world).

Sometimes the letters aren't addressed to anyone but just have the letter topic in the subject line. The thing to remember is - that everyone in the group (over 600 of us) can read the very same things you do - unless you mail a letter to that person privately. Like you can write to me at my "home" address barbhenshaw@... and no one can see that letter but me.

You don't have to answer every letter, like I said, there are over 600 of us and if everyone answered every letter - well, we'd be here all day 24/7. But you can answer any letter you wish to and you can ask ANY question you want of anyone you want it doesn't matter if the letter is to you or not. Or you can just ask a question and see who & how many answer your question. Sometimes no one will answer - if that happens just ask it again.

I hope I helped. If not maybe someone else will explain it better then I just did. Don't worry - we all had to learn - thank goodness we did all the information here & on the web is amazing.

OK Lee, now I'm totally confused - not unusual for me. I never said not to go to a web site. Do you mean the PSC-Support web site?

When someone joins the PSC group they can read the letters in one of three different ways. One way is - the mail comes to your home (or work) computer. A second way is to go to the PSC Support web site and read the mail from there. The third way is Yahoo combines all the letters into one piece of mail called a digest and then that letter gets delivered to your home or work computer. Is this what you're talking about? No matter which of the three ways you chose to get the mail - the mail is all the same, just their delivery is different. Right now some folks are reading this post at the web site, some are reading at work and still others are in their jammies coffee in hand reading at home, others will read this in digest form.

OK Barb, I think that I am getting this. If I am only reading what

comes through on my email, am I getting everything? Is there any need

to go to a web site? It sounds like I am getting everything in my email

and every time I answer one then it goes to everyone and not just the

person that I am answering. Is that correct? Please be patient with me

as I catch up with this tech-no world.

My kids don't even know how to handle my questions because it is like

asking them how to breathe. They can't come down to my level.

Thanks

Lee

PS I also saw that when you say highlight what you want to answer that

you mean to make it bold print and I was making the whole sentence

blocked off in blue. Then if I typed everything would get deleted. I

don't know what they call that.

Yes, you are getting every e-mail written by our group. Some days you'll only get 2 or 3 e-mails, other days 20 - 40, and occasionally 0.

Is there any need to go to a web site?

No. But we do have photos to look at and files you can read. If someone posts something new to the web site (like adding their photo) - they usually send an e-mail to tell everyone ahead of time. So you won't miss anything if you don't go to the web site.

Yup, now you've got it. Let's say you address your e-mail to at yahoo groups .com and put Barb in the subject line, then proceed to tell me you just dyed your hair purple - every member of our group will know you just dyed your hair and look like a grape. The thing is - with this being a support group - you'll get a bunch of e-mails telling you - you look very nice with purple hair, how to wash the purple out, how to put green highlights in it and questions like does your doctor know you dyed your hair? Or comments like my tx center thinks blue hair is better.

Please be patient with me as I catch up with this tech-no world.

Hey girl friend, I was exactly like you are when my son first got his DX.

Don't worry about the rest of us. Everyone one of us admires you, and applauds your courage. It ain't easy being a mom or dad of a kid who has a nasty disease, let alone dive off the dock into the world of computers without knowing how to swim. But the good ones (like you) do whatever it takes to learn and do what is right for our kids. Before long you'll be an old pro - and helping another new member.

Hang in there,

Good question, I don't know either. Something tells me

that we will know soon. Someone out there will tell us.

Go to (at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group//), log in with your Yahoo! ID and password, then click on the photos link on the left (or click http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group//lst - you'll still have to log in unless you told your PC to "save" your password).

They are (sort of) arranged in folders. Good luck!

Thanks Arne, I managed to get to the site and to see the pictures.

Then I felt encouraged by how good everyone looks.
