Hi there

We are really from all over the world- including Germany, US, South

America adn Australia. The problem is that plagio is becoming very

common in these countries, but we all have the same problem, trying

to get peds to listen and take this seriously. It sounds like you

have an excellent pede- the fact that you have been referred so

promptly to see a specialist is really good.

How do you feel about what the specialist had to say about needing a

helmet? It might seem a bit daunting, but given Chad's age, it will

be hopefully very quick treatment- only 4 or so months out of his

whole life. I also felt very reluctant to put my daughter in a

helmet, but at the end of the day, like most people here, I think we

all dreaded our children turning round when they were older (and

perhaps looked odd due to untreated plagio) and saying 'why didn't

you do something?' It sounds to me that if the cranio-facial

specialist is suggesting a helmet, then Chad could probably do with

one. I really don't think they suggest them unless the child could

benefit-many will tell you to go away and reposition for longer.

It also sounds like you need to look into the insurance issue. I'm

not from the US, but I know there is a wealth of experience about

insurance claims here- if you look in the files and database

sections, they have lots on particular providers. I would ask

someone if they have the same insurance as you- there probably is. A

lot of people do get their claims denied initially but then go on to

win their cases.

Hope this helps-good luck with it all- if the shock is wearing

off!!! Hopefully you are reassured this is a totally painless

treatment which doens't really bother the babies- just traumatises

the poor parents!
