I have an appointment with my regular doc this morning, who agreed to give me Armour last year, but I am surely under treated. I am hoping to get the correct tests today, and up my dose. I also have the names of endo's on my insurance plan that use Armour, if he is uncomfortable with that. Then I have the names of some docs off the " good doc " list if that fails, and I will pay out of pocket if I have to. Then I have the info for the self testing place uses, and some Armour on the way from you know where, if I have to do it myself! Have I thought of everything??? Anyway, no the Frees testing is not fasting, but if you know he's planning on running blood sugar or cholesterols, then, by all means fast. Last year, I did a lab after Armour, and another lab later before the Armour--each two months apart. The difference was 3.3 before Armour and 3.7 after Armour. Range was 2.3 - 4.2. Now, my free T3 is over the top, 4.5 after Armour, but like above, I wouldn't be surprised if there is another .5 (or more) difference!! I still wonder about that lab result, even though I am so glad to hear that you are dosing by symptoms!! That IS the way it was successfully done for decades before the labs came into existence. Sometimes our forefathers in the medical field knew exactly what they were doing, huh!! By the way, for those that don't know, pig thyroids produce 80% T4 and 20% T3.
