Guest guest
In case I can't find a doctor to prescribe more Armour, I was checking myrxforless to order online. I guess you don't need a prescription. They do not have Armour Thyroid in stock , but they do have Armour Thyroid Generic. 100 tablets 1 gr is $6.95, 2 gr $7.95 and 3gr 8.95. Is the generic OK to use? I just started taking Armour and I don't know the difference. ..... joan
Guest guest
Joan, Many Generic drugs are made by the very same company as the Brand and even come in the very same color. they aren't smart enough yet to at very least change the color or shape of the pills on some of these Brand versus generics. I will tell you that Armour thyroid is not one of them. The generics for armour are made by diffrent companies but are considered to be a-b rated yet many patients do not quite feel the same. Since the drug is so incredibly cheap we never suggest a patient go on the generic with this medication unless they really have to. If the Brand was say 50.00 to 100.00 or more than try the generic by all means. If price is not an issue to you then stay on the brand. Since Armour is much cheaper then most supplements taken on a monthly basis then I would not even consider switching. Besides you will only save maybe 10-15 dollars a month on the prices that you were quoted from the online pharmacy. that only equates to around 50 cents a day. All kinds of pharmacies can sell you the Brand Armour Thyroid fairly cheap. It is one of the cheapest drugs for us to stock. I am trying to figure out how it is you received the medication without a prescription as in the state of Kansas Armour Thyroid can only be filled with a prescription. Even the generics here require a prescription Maybe if access to getting the Armour Thyroid is difficult for you then try the generic as only about 20% of our patients complain of not feeling as well with it. otherwise I would stay with the armour thyroid at those prices. Hope this helps Pharmacy Owner
Guest guest
Joan I can't say for sure if the generic is EXACTLY the same as Armour. If it shows that it has 38 mcgs of T4 and 9 mcgs of T3, that it has exactly the same fillers in it as Armour, AND that it is strictly natural porcine thyroid without anything else added to it,i.e., a duplicate, then I'd feel comfortable with saying that. I don't like the medical world's description of what a " generic " is, though, in that a drug can be called a generic, even if it has different fillers in it. I haven't checked this out. Did you go in and look to see exactly what the ingredients are? Armour Generic ?? In case I can't find a doctor to prescribe more Armour, I was checking myrxforless to order online. Guest guest
No, , price is not even a consideration. I kept reading about people self-dosing and I'm trying to figure out how they obtain the Armour Thyroid without a prescription. I am assuming it is via an online site such as myrxforless. However, they show out of stock on Armour Thyroid and what I quoted is listed as Armour Thyroid (Generic.) From what I have read, I think I need to INCREASE my dosage and my doctor wants me to DECREASE my dosage and 'will not be talked out of it. " She is also dropping my insurance carrier and I need not only to find a new doctor , but also one who will prescribe Armour, and nobody I have called so far will do that. Thus the questions about obtaining Armour on my own. Question is where? ....joan From: " " Joan, Many Generic drugs are made by the very same company as the Brand and even come in the very same color. they aren't smart enough yet to at very least change the color or shape of the pills on some of these Brand versus generics.
