Question for pg women

I am now 8 weeks pg and I went in for my last checkup with the IVF clinic.

They did a last u/s /sonogram and everything looks okay with the twins the

cord is just developing and the placenta is next she said. The question is

that I have been feeling out of breath more and my heart is racing a little

bit faster than usual. Is anyone else feeling or have felt like this in the

beginning of their pregnancy? The doctor just to be on the safe side

referred me to Loyola University to see a cardioligist and a high risk

obstetrics/gyn.

I go in on Monday for the cardiologist for some tests. A group at Loyola

will be delivering the twins. She did say that the afterbirth might be a

problem when I deliver because it might stick to the uterus and that during

the pregnancy there shouldn't be a problem. She did call the specialist to

tell her a little about my history. Now I am concerned about this heart

issue. I hope it is just my worrying that has gotten me like this but can't

stop thinking about this whole ordeal. She said also I am to keep off my

feet as much as possible because on Wednesday when I wiped I saw some dark

blood not alot but that was it. I hope it was nothing. She did say to take

it more at ease and relax. Thanks for letting me air out.

Hi Elly....my heart still pounds and alot of time when i lie down I can feel it beating real hard--even in my abdomen. I also have slight valve backflow and have had more than my normal heart palpitations. Both of these things are COMPLETELY normal. Your body is working very hard to get extra blood to your uterus and to make that placenta. Our blood volumes increase by 30-50%. Since you have twins developing, you could be even a bit higher. I also get out of breath--and I am a person in good shape. It all goes hand in hand. So don't worry, in everything I've read, it mentions this--your heart needs to oxygenate alot more blood. That's also why our hearts get a bit bigger in pregnancy too. Take care.
