Guest guest
I switched pharmacies when I got my latest month's supply of ursodiol. I weigh 120 pounds and take five 300 mg capsules per day. This time, I received ursodiol manufactured by Amide. I think this company has just recently started selling it. Anyway, this past month, I have been plagued by extremely dry skin on my face, including my eyelids. I talked to another pharmacist and he told me to check with him when I go in to order my next prescription so he will avoid ordering from Amide. I expect the dry skin problem to go away once I get my next prescription. Has anybody else had this problem? Guest guest
Margie - I have not observed this, although when I had eczema, my eyelids were one of the problematic places (hard to keep enough lotion on). Guest guest
Arne, I hope my problem with extremely dry skin on my face including eyelids goes away when I get the ursodiol from Teva instead of Amide. Evidently, Amide has only recently started making it. When my doctor wrote out the prescription a year ago, he said it was not necessary to specify company since only one company made 300 mg ursodiol. When I phoned the pharmacy where I got my latest prescription, the pharmacist commented the Amide ursodiol was cheaper than the other company's. I pay the same copay for generics, regardless of manufacturer, but even if I did not, I would make sure I got the " better " one. The dry skin on my face is really weird. I use a pair of tweezers to pick it off in big flakes. Cheryl, the dry skin is a problem which I assume will disappear once I get my previous generic, but I will put up with it before I go off ursodiol. I am getting my annual blood test results when I see my GI doctor this afternoon, but I think/hope my condition is pretty stable. My liver enzymes remain sky high, even after being on either Actigall or (generic) ursodiol for years, but I still plan to remain on it. I think you went off it for reasons other than dry skin, right? In my case, the dry skin did not start until less than 30 days ago when I received the ursodiol by Amide (instead of Teva).
