Guest guest
My son received his helmet 2 weeks ago and has been wearing it only off and on while we've been getting it adjusted to fit properly. He's only worn it at night 3 times, but each time I noticed something strange. When he wakes up in the middle of the night to be nursed, his head seems to be stuck to one side. He wakes up crying because he can't turn his head which is probably pretty scary for him. Although he's always favored one side due to tort (he graduated from PT this week)this doesn't seem right. The orthotist moved the velcro straps up today which he thinks might be preventing him from rotating more easily. I think the helmet might be too heavy for him to move when he's sleepy. He doesn't have this problem during the day. Has anyone else noticed this with their helmet? - Lori 's Mommy - helmeted 10/01/04 South Lyon, MI
Guest guest
Hi, 's helmet also was sticking to her when she got it. i called the ortho and they told me to lightly coat all of the foam inside with johnson's cornstarch baby powder. I do it daily and it never sticks anymore. adorable 's mommy --- In Plagiocephaly , " nai0240 " <montaguemayer@c...> wrote: > > My son received his helmet 2 weeks ago and has been wearing it only > off and on while we've been getting it adjusted to fit properly. > He's only worn it at night 3 times, but each time I noticed > something strange. Guest guest
Lori, I haven't ever heard of that problem but do understand why it is bothersome. Maybe it was that velcro getting caught. The helmets usually only weigh 6-10 oz. how is he doing since the adjustment?? mom to na DOC grad 2/04 Tort Resolved SCnai0240 <montaguemayer@...> wrote: My son received his helmet 2 weeks ago and has been wearing it only off and on while we've been getting it adjusted to fit properly. Guest guest
Is the velcro getting stuck on his blanket or something? Guest guest
Thank you for all of the replies. I suspect the velcro might have been causing some friction. The orthotist did move the velcro up on the helmet yesterday to see if that would help. It seems to have worked, but I'll monitor it for a few more days. My Son only woke up one time last night to feed (which was odd) so I didn't get to check it out more than once. I guess he's comfy with his new helmet. : ) - Lori > > > > My son received his helmet 2 weeks ago and has been wearing it > only > > off and on while we've been getting it adjusted to fit properly. > > He's only worn it at night 3 times, but each time I noticed > > something strange.
