Guest guest
Pat, This is a very interesting difference of opinion between these two docs. Stick with Dr. Olive. By the way, Dr. Indman doesn't use the resectoscope. He feels that by waiting for bleeds to stop on their own they almost always do and he doesn't introduce any energy (heat) into the uterus. Heat can damage the lining and you have to be extra careful. He said that the bleeds almost always stop. You may want to mention this to Dr. Olive. Who is your RE anyway? Where is he located? I am curious since I go to Dr. Katz in SF. Good luck on the 13th!

Guest guest
Pat, I had a D & C at 11 weeks for a bligted ovum that was diagnosed at 9 weeks so the BS about not seeing AS with procedures that early is just that...BS! Guest guest
Thank you . That makes me feel good! I believe I am going to be the first of the group to actually be treated by Dr. Olive. I hope to give him a great report card afterwards. So far, he has been really great to deal with. Guest guest
Yes! I can't wait to see what my surgery shows. Olive and the radiologist that did my HSG both think it's adhesions. My RE thinks its fibroids/polyps. But, I don't have any of the pain/bleeding associated with fibroids/polyps. It is true that you don't have to have taken a pg to term to get AS. This RE is very skilled surgically, but he is *not* an AS expert, as his comment indicates! I just have to say that I am very thankful that I found you guys, because if I hadn't I wouldn't know about Dr. Olive and that means I would probably have had this RE do my surgery. I am grateful that I knew all the right questions to ask because of what I had learned here! Guest guest
I think Dr. Indman might use resectoscope for fibroid removal (that seems to be the tool of choice for most), but not for AS. On his web site (http://www.gynalternatives.com/resectos.htm) he talks about it, but emphasizes that only very well trained surgeons should use this tool. I believe Dr. Olive is in the same camp as Indman on this. Olive also mentioned that heat can damage the lining and is to be avoided and that he would only use a heat producing tool when absolutely necessary, like in the rare instance that bleeding did not stop. Guest guest
Pat you asked: It is true that you don't have to have taken a pg to term to get AS Yes, It is true. I have never been pregnant (that I am aware of). My Ashermans may have been caused by a possible m/c that may have happened when I was only 17 that I was unaware of. At the time I got very heavy periods that lasted for at least three weeks, so this was only a speculation a few years later while reviewing my history with my gyn when I was diagnosed with ashermans at 21 after no period for over 2 years. > > > > _________________________________________________________________ > > Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Guest guest
Pat is correct, Indman uses the resectoscope for other uterine surgeries but not Ashermans. For Ashermans he lets it bleed and they usually stop. That is what he said to me anyway. Thanks Pat.
