Guest guest
No antibodies test tiffany? > We I decided to go back and see the quack endo that I saw last week to get my blood test results. When I first start talking to the doctor he tells me I am NOT hypo. I then asked him what my numbers were and he blew me off!!! Now I am pissed so then he tells me I tested positive for Ruematoid Arthritis. He tells me to take motrin and go see a Ruematoligist. Sooooooo I asked if I could get a copy of my results to take to the doctor and he got me them Thank god. So when I was leaving he said good luck at the doctor and dont worry about my hypo we will just retest in 3 months. WTH in the room you tell me I am not then you tell me I am. So I leave and looked at my numbers and they are as follows, what do you guys think? > > Iron (serum) 75 (28-170) > Prolactin 5.4 (1.9-25) > Ferritin 46 (12-135) > TSH 0.99 (0.4-4) > Free T4 0.7 (0.8-1.8) LOW > T3 Total 70 (45-137) > RA Factor POSITIVE > Titer Negative > ESR-Wintrobe 4 (0-15) What is this????? > > Tiff > > PS Thank you guys for all your help... > >

Guest guest
Well, there are a lot of symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis that can look similar to hypo. What you need to do is plot you morning basal body temps. EAach morning before getting out of bed, you need to put the thermometer (preferably mercury) under your arm for 10 minutes. This will give you an idea of what's going on there. Your free T4 is really low. It is possible that (if you have Hashi's), that your thyroid is currently trying to sputter to life and giving the false low TSH reading (so to speak). The antibodies test is crutial in giving you a better picture. What are your symptoms again? So sorry I forgot (one of the hypo symptoms lol). My memory went from exceptional to right out the window. Anyway, I do find it odd that the endo wants to retest you if he thinks you are not hypo. My guess is that he is seeing that low free t4 and thinking it would be a good idea in case you are in a Hshi's swing. If you go through with it, I would demand the antibodies test. Remember, you are the customer so to speak. My mom just had a bad experience where her doctor absolutely refuses to do the free T4, free t3, and the antibodies test. She is only doing the TSH (that's it). My mother shows a goiter (her neck has been swollen for years). If it's nothing, so be it, but what if it is not? My grandmother has hypothyroidism and so do I, so it only makes sense for her to get the tests. She has lots of symptoms and I am learning everytime I talk to her that she has more and more, but has explained them all away for many years. Believe me, if she finally gets the tests done and the results show Hashi's. I am going to report her doctor and personally march down and give her a piece of my mind. This disease is just not something to mess with. Here's proof why: my grammie had a clogged artery in her brain taken out 12 years ago. This was at the same time that she was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. At this point her voice was sounding like a mans, and I have read that that is a later stage of hypothyroidism. I know she had long standing hypothryoidism. Years and years of high cholesterol almost killed her and no one thought to check the thyroid. Guest guest
Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate, which can be vaguely used to help diagnose lupus and some other things. Has to be coupled with the antibody titers, though, for specific autoimmune diseases.
