Guest guest
Tim, Texas Tech offers an BS in EMS Management. Email me privately if you have any questions. Jerry Findley TTUHSC EMS Program jerry.findley@... 4 Year Degree Programs I have run across 2 programs, one from an online school in Florida and the other West Texas A & M with online or distance programs that would be related to Emergency Mgmt or EMS. ACPM is the Florida, formerly Louisianna, school. But has anyone dealt with them or taken these classes? Seems awfully expensive at $250.00 per semester hour. West Texas seems to be above board and getting the enrollement, but again, pricey, about $1100 per semester for 2 classes and books. Any others out there that would benefit the career paramedic with 2 years of school finished?? Any bad ones to avoid? How about it? Tim Gibson, AAS, LP, EMSI

It is a very good school and totally above board. Apparently you have not priced college education lately. A tuition of $250.00 per semester hour is not high at all for a private college. My daughter went to Abilene Christian University and graduated about 5 years ago. The tuition at that time was $360.00 per semester hour. I shudder to think what the tuition is today. I am also a graduate of the American College of Prehospital Medicine. They offer Associate and Bachelor level degrees in EMS. It is a really good school. The faculty for the school is fantastic. Gene Gandy teach EMS Law for the college and he can back up what I am saying about the college. I wholeheartedly recommend the school, its faculty, program, etc. Dr. Clinchy, President, has a very good thing going there and the education you achieve through the school is very good. Guest guest
ACPM is a distance education only school in Florida. It was founded and is run now by Dr. Clinchy, who is pretty well known in Scuba Diving circles has having written a text on Scuba First Responder. The school is legitimate, and is accredited by the Distance Education Training Council, or DETC. They meet all the requirements of an accreditor, and therefore ACPM SHOULD be accepted for all purposes. But we should probably check with TDH, because they are not technically REGIONALLY accredited (DETC is a separate organization that isn't regional, but accredits distance learning schools nationwide). I know a bit about their program if anyone needs more contact me by email. Texas Tech is a Distance Learning program and has a good reputation. They ARE regionally accredited, so no problems there (and in the interest of disclosure, I graduated with my undergraduate degree there, and also taught at the Medical School eons ago). West Texas A & M, formerly West Texas State University, also has a good reputation. They are regionally accredited, but I don't know anything about their EMS program. That's all I know for now. =Steve= RaaEMS605@... wrote: > >I have run across 2 programs, one from an online school in Florida > >and the other West Texas A & M with online or distance programs that > >would be related to Emergency Mgmt or EMS. > > > >ACPM is the Florida, formerly Louisianna, school.
