Reporting in from DC Metro.

The Bowie Shooting was 4 miles from my house, the last gas station shooting was

5 miles from where my husband works.

There was another shooting last night (raise your hand if you didn't know that).

The woman killed was an FBI agent. They now are using military survailance gear

and military recourses to hunt for this guy. After last nights shooting, there

were eyewittness to it and an olive skin man was seen leaving the area with a

semi-automatic wepon.

All this started within a week of an article running in the Post here about a

report out of Gitmo and how several of the El Quida prisoners said something

about how shootings were going to start at schools and stuff.

It is possible that this is terrorist linked.

That would have nothing to do with Hollywood and the movies they make.

I am with you on how Hollywood desensitizes everyone with all the violence in

movies and the such. However, I think it is a bit premature to say that this

has anything to do with Hollywood and their coruption of youth. If this is a

terrorist (and that possiblity is being investigated) there are bigger problems

than Hollywood.

Follow what I am saying?

All I have to say at the moment is at least they finally gave him a " cool

criminal name " finally instead of just calling him " the sniper " . Geeze. My

theory on it all is that all these people that have been killed cut him off in

traffic (people are maniacs here) and it is all related to road rage :0). Been

dealing with living in the " war zone " best I can with off colour humor. Just

smack me.

Totally Off Topic Request

Did Showtime's repeated showing of " ENEMY AT THE GATE " inspire the Beltway

Sniper?

As of this writing, The Beltway Sniper has claimed the lives of nine people

and terrorized our nation's capitol. Coincidently, the cable movie network

" Showtime " repeatedly ran the film " ENEMY AT THE GATE " during the month of

September. The film is also running through October and is now scheduled to run

through late November.

ENEMY AT THE GATE is about a Russian peasant who becomes a national hero

during the battle of Stalingrad. It's hard to overlook the similarities between

the movie's hero, Vassili, and the person or persons dubbed " The Beltway Sniper "

by national news media.

The Beltway Sniper is holding our nation's capitol hostage as he eludes all

efforts by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to bring his reign

of terror to an end.

Many news reporters have noted that the " Beltway Sniper's " tactics are nothing

more than tacky little rip-offs of a myriad of bad films. The leaving a tarot

card as a " calling card " when the sniper shot a 13-year-old middle school

student is a scene straight from a half dozen Hollywood films. Even the message

scrawled on the card, " I am God, " was a line from a bad Alec Baldwin film

called " MALICE. " Coincidently, MALICE aired in the Washington, D.C. area the

night before the shooting at Tasker Middle School in Bowie, MD.

In MALICE, Baldwin plays a surgeon who plays " God " -- who else? Film critic

Ebert said of the film: " This is the only movie I can recall in which an

entire subplot about a serial killer is thrown in simply for atmosphere " .

The costume choice and perhaps even the plot for the Columbine Massacre was

taken directly from another Hollywood film, " THE MATRIX. " In " THE MATRIX " star

Keanu Reeves was dressed in a black Trench Coat firing two pistols in an assault

on a SWAT Team. The similarities cannot be overlooked, except by Hollywood film

makers, who refuse to take responsibility for desensitizing our youth to gory,

bloody violence and crime.

There was a time when this country didn't have to worry about horrors such as

the massacre at Columbine, or random killers such as the Beltway Sniper. But

that was when Hollywood gave us love stories, mysteries and psychological

thrillers instead of NATURAL BORN KILLERS.

With a colossal budget, historical context and Hollywood distribution, one

would have hoped for Enemy At The Gate to be an authentic European response to

ultra-patriotic American war films in the vein of Saving Private . Far from

it, Jean-Jacques ud's film rather resembles rather an egocentric fantasy

where the direction is hardly defined.

If it is terrorist related, chances are it had nothing to do with anyone

watching anything. Now if it is just someone who is a total nutjob, then you

are on to something :0).

Another weird thing about all this is the times of the shootings. They have

pretty much determined (in their own minds) that this guy is doing this when he

has spare time.

Hopefully will get the answers soon when they catch this guy.

I am just afraid that after they get this guy it is just going to be a matter of

time before something else happens around here. First the Pentagon, then the

Anthrax (we still have a couple post offices closed). Now this. What next?

Lets just say that nothing surprises me anymore.

I don't drive. Was talking about that again the other day. Let my drivers

license lapse because no one has gotten my glasses fixed right yet where I can

see properly to drive. Told my husband around here that no one would notice

another menance on the road. People are idiots here.

Yesterday one jerk (being nice here) cut off three lanes of traffic to turn

right. We almost hit him. Told my husband that the sniper should shoot him

:0). has this theory that around here you should be allowed to shoot

idiot drivers with a paintgun and when a cop sees someone with 10 paintball

shots on their car they automatically get a ticket for being an asshole.
