Guest guest
Hi Sue! Welcome to the group! I live in Georgia too and I know what you mean about the sun here! I have been reading about Bergamont EO and have learned that it is an effective sun block. The manufacturers of sunscreen products include it in thier ingredients so there must be some validity in this. HTH, ette
Guest guest
NOOOOO!!!!! Bergamot is a sensitizer....DO NOT PUT IT IN AS A SUNBLOCK!!! Sorry to shout. It can burn. I recently read of a woman who's boyfriend put it on neat (on his neck) and went into the sun. He was burned pretty badly! DO NOT USE BERGAMOT!!! Guest guest
, I certainly didn't mean to suggest that you should apply Bergamont or any other EO DIRECTLY to your skin. It is used in creams, soaps and lotions as an ingredient along with all the others. ette
Guest guest
ette: Sorry 'bout that. I get a little worked up. I do think, though, that if you are going to use Bergamot...there is one that is free of the stuff that is a sensitizer...can't remember the name... If you aren't going to use that, just make sure you use it in miniscule amounts. It just seems like a risk to take, especially with someone who already has a problem... Again, I'm so sorry for getting excited & shouting. B in TN " What do you do when you're life's in a lather?... Make SOAP! "
Guest guest
Hey ! No offense taken...I am sorry if it sounded like I meant to apply if directly to your skin. You are absolutely right that EO's can be skin sensitisers and shouldn't be directly applied to the skin. There is research that shows that Bergamont can increase the melatonin in the skin and help prevent sunburn. I don 't know how much of the research is valid I just know that there must be something to it as the big sunscreen manufacturers are using it as an ingredient in thier products. Hope I didn't offend you or misguide anyone out there..sure didn't mean to! Please do through research before experimenting with the EO's because they certainly can have adverse effects if used in excess or improperly. ette

Congrats on the weight loss and the BG control you are gaining! Rick

Saw on the list someone mention Dr. > Bernstein so I got his book, which hit home. Started following it and Denis. Hi and sympathies for being here. I'm type 2, too, and kinda all over the place and i find the right foods. some on here are type 2 with insulin; some are type 1s; and some are taking meds, some are not. i'm on glucotrol, and hope to go off when some pounds leave me. if you haven't yet, get Gretchen Becker's book about Type II. It's not expensive, and i got it from Amazon. some use a website for carb count, but i prefer a book by Corrine Netzer on carb counting (just easier for me). it's good that you're already controlling the beast. i can't wait to really figure out which foods work, and which do not. of course, some days everything works; some days, nothing does. this list has loads of good information. some times we get pretty far off topic, some days it's pretty quiet. most days, someone has an answer, and all days, someone here has been thru what you're going thru. nice to meet you. pat

Guest guest
SIIIIIGH. That is the sound of the HUGE sigh of relief I felt this morning when I found this group. I am in the midst of what is soon to be a legal battle with my Nada. I am looking for support and help in understanding the best way to deal with her. I have been distancing myself from her more and more over the last 2 years (after moving my husband and children in and living with her for 7 years-BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE-but that's a story for another day. lol). She is now moving on to a legal battle in regards to having my children unsupervised. The big problem is the rest of my family sees me as " intentionally hurting her " and no one is talking to me. They all feel the need to support her (altho they don't agree with her) and they are bombarding me with requests on her behalf, etc. They are accusing ME of breaking apart the family and if I would just give her my kids, blah blah blah. Is there hope of EVER having sanity?
