Guest guest
Hi All, Just wanted to put my 2 cents in here ...I've been on doxepin (25 or 50 mg at bedtime) for about 6 years as treatment for vulvodynia and aside from a couple flare-ups, have been pain free for about 4 of those years. I stopped taking the doxepin recently for about one week (couldn't seem to get to the pharmacy) and i had a small flare-up. I don't like the idea of being on it forever, but one minor flare changed my mind about that!
Guest guest
So are you taking it orally and not topically? Dusty Thanks for your input - this is very interesting. -----Original Message-----From: anne1105@... Sent: Wednesday, October 29, 2003 7:01 AMTo: VulvarDisorders Subject: Re: ITCH ?? Guest guest
HI Good to hear your story about the Doxepin helping you but wondering if you've ever tried the topical cream instead of an oral form? I too hate the thoughts of having to take something systemically for any long term, not knowing what side effects might be there later. Guest guest
it is a drug which has the properties of a tricyclic antidepressant, anticholinergenic activity, and antihistaminic activity. you know, the more I look up it's uses (antihistamine use is relatively new and less common, but still one of it's uses), the more I think this is definitely a good drug for us to try! (though I'll stick to using it topically, I don't really want the psychotropic effects! ;-) ) tiffany > MessageWhat is doxepin? > Re: ITCH ??
