Guest guest
Thanks for your replies. I'm looking to stay away from doctors for everything including all my medications. I'm disgusted and fedup. I'd rather die trying to treat myself than let a doctor prescribe another pill. I'm tried of lane excuses and plain stupidity. I had switched myself from synthroid to armour thyroid and have adjusted it myself since 2004. I had been on hydrocortisone at this time but I wasn't able to get anymore. Two weeks after being off the hydrocortisone all my symptoms came back. I have been diagnoised with fibromyalgia, hypothyroid, hypoglycemia, CFIDS, depression, possible PTSD, Paraproteinaemia, polyneuropathy, 4 cervical ruptured disc, a degenerative lumbar disc, ACL and meniscus and Left lateral release. I found out from an online lab that I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis, (antithyroid peroxidase). The stress, anxiety and fear I have of going to doctors makes me terribly ill. The horror stories I could tell. I've had tests for heavy medals and Lyme disease. An MRI of the brain to rule out MS showed a small lesion along the posterior aspect of the parietal lobe which was thought to be a cyst. I was on 2 grs Armour but I took it down to 1 1/2 grs in January because I'd been having hot flashes since I had came off the hydrocortisone in 2005. It wasn't until I completely stopped the armour for 4 days and started getting severe hypoglycemia that I started back at 1gr then 1 1/2 gr and no hot flashes. What do you think? I've noticed when I take a little predisone my swelling goes down and I don't have to take Lasix. I took the predisone(medrol dose pack) from my husband. A doctor gave him a shot of predisone for back pain and I told him he wasn't taking the medrol dose pack too. Thanks
Guest guest
Reba, With all those symptoms I'd highly recommend checking into a GFCF diet. Linn > > Thanks for your replies. Guest guest
, It's a gluten and casein free diet. You listed fibromyalgia, hypothyroid, hypoglycemia, CFIDS, depression, possible PTSD, polyneuropathy, Hashi's and MS all of which can be caused by the proteins in gluten and casein. The proteins cause the antibodies which in turn causes the problem or disease. Soybean oil (that's in about 80% of processed food) can cause some pretty nasty problems also. For some further info: http://www.thedoctorwithin.com (Specifically read the chapter called " The Magic Bean " ) The other chapters are full of great info nutrition and health wise and also highly recommended. http://www.dogtorj.net (Lots of info here, just look through) Lots of info out there, on the web, books etc. Some people have great luck in just cutting the gluten out, but a lot of people find that they have even more success especially with arthritis and MS type symptoms when they cut out the casein. Do you use Nutrasweet or other artificial sweeteners? Guest guest
And from what I'm hearing...enzymes can actually help overcome gluten intolerance! There is hope yet!!! I've ordered some and will letchano how they work! Thanks for pointing me in that direction Linn! Be well, W mwm1glm wrote: , It's a gluten and casein free diet. Guest guest
Linn Thanks for those articles I have read most of them and it makes good sense. I'm going to try removing Gluten, Casein, Soy, and Corn from my diet and see if that helps. I don't use NutraSweet or other artificial sweeteners. I do drink tea, coffee and occasionally a Mt Dew. Do you have a specific diet for this? > > > > > > Reba, > > > > > > With all those symptoms I'd highly recommend checking into a GFCF > > diet. > > > > > > Linn > > > > > > > > > Whats a GFCF diet. > > > > >
Guest guest
, The easiest way to try a GFCF diet IMO is to just eat whole foods. It makes it a lot easier to avoid the bad stuff. You'll need to watch things like salad dressings, sauces, mayo, etc. as many of these products have gluten in them, but it's listed under other names. Check out the Celiac.com website for info regarding hidden source of gluten. If you absolutely cannot go without bread, I'd suggest making your own or using Kinnikinnick brands (http://www.kinnikinnick.com), they have GFCF items that are also soy free, etc. One of the things that a lot of people who go on GF diets do is to end up substituting the same type of SAD foods that they are already eating for GF versions of these same foods. It's much better to just clean up the diet period. My daughter and I use the GFCF diet, but the rest of the family does use raw milk. I really think that most of the negative info regarding milk and milk products applies to pastuerized milk and not raw milk. Although it wouldn't be advisable for someone to use raw milk if they have a compromised immune system. It's easier to cut out the gluten than it is the casein, because casein is in almost anything that is processed. There are gluten free sources that let you do searches based on what you are shopping for which makes it a little easier. I found it's just easier to make everything myself. The oils that are used in most products don't cut muster with me, so I make my own mayo and sauces. For the 4th, I made a barbeque sauce from a a Deen recipe that was scrumptious. We avoid MSG also. There are several good yahoo groups that are focused on nutrition that are GFCF, you can start with this one: GFCFNN-subscribe The Weston A. Price Foundation has a lot of good info regarding fats that might be very helpful for you also. http://westonaprice.org Elimiating gluten and casein takes some practice. It's almost impossible to do it perfectly without some infractions. It's a learning process. I noticed a difference in about 3 days. I couldn't believe how much better I felt. Within a few weeks, all the aches and pains that I had were gone, including shoulder pain that I have had for well over a decade. I'm having testing done this week for Celiac, I'll be interested to see how that comes out. I know I'm definitely gluten intolerant. I think I forgot to list that site before, there's a lot of great info there also. http://www.celiac.com Linn > > Linn > > Thanks for those articles I have read most of them and it makes good > sense. Guest guest
Wow Linn You know a lot of stuff. I hadn't thought about changing my diet. I used to eat a lot of veggies but they gave me gas. Maybe that's why I'm not absorbing vits. I can go with out bread. I used to do the Atkins diet years ago. Lose the weight and end up going back to the way I've always eaten. > > > > Linn > > > > Thanks for those articles I have read most of them and it makes good > > sense. Guest guest
HypoT and/or gluten intolerance can both cause malabsorption. A lot of people who go on Atkins find that they feel a lot better, one of the reasons for that is that it's basically giving up gluten without knowing it. Basically just eating good clean proteins, organic if possible, lots of veggies and some fruits is a good diet. Even potatoes are good, as long the portion is smaller. Some of the potatoes now are big enough to feed 4 people. You can even use butter as long as it's clarified (that gets rid of the milk proteins, it's also called ghee). Beans are notorious for giving people gas, but that's usually because they're aren't soaked before cooking. Linn > > Wow Linn You know a lot of stuff. I hadn't thought about changing my > diet.
