Guest guest
Hi all. I have a neurotransmitter to help with low back and leg pain. Like everything else, it helps but is not perfect. Unfortunately, the fibro and osteoarthritis pain in my upper back, neck and arms-hands is not improving. My pain mamagement doctor says that he can give me another neuro transmitter for neck and lower arms, but I have read no studies on multiple neurotransmitters and pain. I am concerned about the cognitive dissonance effects. Michele
Guest guest
or anyone else, What is " the cognitive dissonance effects " you mentioned as a concern for not having a neuro transmitter for your neck and lower arm pain? That is exactly the kind of pain I have and why I am scheduled to get a transmitter if all goes ok. I am still trying to make an educated decision. Thanks. Guest guest
Neuro transmitter causes 'white noise' to interrupt pain messages nerves in selected areas of the body produce. I am concerned for many reasons including that I have one transmitter already and I also have pain in my shoulders, neck, upper back and upper arms that will not be addressed with a 2nd device. I am on many medications for the fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis and arthritis. How much can the brain tolerate? That is my concern. I have contacted the transmitter co. but they have not responded yet.
Guest guest
Hi all! I had my psych exam for the neuro transmitter on Monday. It was one of the silliest things I have had to do. First of all I met with the psychologist who asked a lot of questions about my family history, my pain but more what I had tried and my feelings about what had happened to me, my family dynamics, and last of all, how my life has changed because of my pain. I did ask why I was being asked all these things and she told me that the insurance company requires it as it is an expensive procedure and equipment and they want to make sure I am committed to using it all correctly. Also, that I needed to have a good support team in place in case I have problems. After she finished, I went into another room and took 3 tests which were basically fill in the bubble tests. i hate these tests as they try to trick you by asking you the same question over and over again in different ways. Many of the questions are designed to see if you are a drug addict or have some kind of mental problem where you might kill yourself with their expensive equipment inside you! Anyway. one question was " I think I have something wrong with my head. " I asked the tester how to answer that one as I know for a fact that my occipital nerve which runs up the back of the head is impaired. He told me to answer yes even though it is a question really set up to see if you are suffering from a mental impairment. Another question was " I tell others what to do and get upset if they don't do what I say. " I am a kindergarten teacher so I do tell others what to do and yes I do expect them to do it. I marked it yes but know that will probably go against me. Anyway, it will be a couple of weeks before I know if I passed it. They told me with the economy being so bad that they have so many patients that their paperwork is backlogged. i see my doctor in 2 weeks so am hopeful I will know by then. I will post when I know. Hope everyone is doing ok and maybe spring will at least help as far as the weather goes. Becky
