Hi Jill,

Welcome to the group! Cranial Tech is an awesome company with an

excellent reputation. If the ortho there told you your baby would

benefit from a DOCband then I think you should go ahead and band

her. They don't tell all parents that, they send many parents away

telling them their baby is too mild to band. To go home and

reposition.

In the photos section you can see the before and after pics of babies

that were banded with the DOCband and the results they received.

Check out the pics of the 19.5 month old, he had brachy. You'll like

what you see. Please let us know what you decide.

Hi Jill. I am waiting to have my son banded through CT in ndale. He

also has brachy and mild tort. Looking at the pic's they showed me and

after hearing what they said we chose to go with the band. My son's head is

as wide as long, his left cheek is bigger than the right, left ear is more

forward than right, and right eye is more narrow than left. After seeing

the pic's and hearing what they had to say i could only picture my son as a

teenager with this huge head, huge cheek, funky ear and eye. I know that

sounds kinda bad but it's worth a shot to try it! A little adjustment is

better than none!

Hello Jill,

My son was referrred to DOC band when he was 6 months old.We didn't go to any specialist either because my peds MD think it is a brachycephaly. CT is great. But if you really have doubts, ask your peds to refer you to a specialist just for your own peace of mind.Good Luck to you and your child.

Jill,

Our ped went ahead and wrote the prescription without a specialist

involved. It was obvious our son had a very flat head so no other

opinion needed. Specialist are usually involved to rule out

craniosyntosis or other specific issues where there are questions

regarding an infants plagio. Brachy can be successfully treated with

a DOCband. Our son wore his band for about four months. We were very

pleased.

HI Jill,

I see you have gotten many great replies but I just wanted to

add our experience. Our daughter had a combo Brachy/Plagio

and also has Torticollis. She wore her DOC band from May 3rd to July

23rd and saw great results. You can see her B & A Pics in the B & A

folder under " brachy baby " or you can see her whole banded experience

on her web page at the site below.

We had a great experince with Cranial Tech and with the DOC

band. They were always ready to answer our questions and gave us

great support. Even when I thought was regressing they got us

in and checked her out and gently told me I was over analyzing her

head and took measurements to prove it to me...LOL.

Not all peds send you to a specialist. As long as any other

conditions have been ruled out(...sutures closing, etc...)then you

should be good to go. Most peds/specialist at least order x-rays to

rule out other stuff. We were sent to a specialist then the

specialist wrote the script for Cranial Tech.

Brachy takes longer to tatally correct but in my opinion it is

not any harder. We were told that the head height probably would not

see much correction but it did as did the width. We are now nearly 3

months since graduation and her head looks great. Good Luck on your

decision.
