Guest guest
Hi All, Our story is pretty similiar to what alot of members have gone through or are currently going through with their infants. I noticed his head flattening at about nine weeks or so. Our ped had also noticed this and mentioned it at one of his checkups. I did some research and told my husband to have him keep off the flat spot as much as possible. We were not repoing him aggressive enough because he got much worse. By 12 weeks the back of his head was completely flattened. I went back online and found the plagio.org site and read even more. To my horror, I realized that he looked between a 2 and 3 on CT's brachy severity chart. Figured he'd be a pretty good candidate for helmet therapy so I made a ped appt to start the ball rolling. The first doc I saw said she had seen worse and that he did not seem to have any assymetry(visually, no measurements). She said if we were aware of the problem and we were trying to correct it she would not advise a band just yet, but to keep up aggressive repositioning (which were doing at that time)and that it would most likely round out on it's own. I was happy with her diagnosis, but felt there was more we could do. So we decided to schedule a follow up appt at 6 months and take it from there. At our six month follow up I wasn't able to get the same ped. Luckily, the woman I got was pro-band. She said he looked pretty flat and that if we were up to it she would write a prescription for the DOCband. I had heard only great things about Cranial Technologies so was for it all the way. I had been on this site for months and was very comfortable with banding my child. It didn't seem to be such a horrible thing afterall when so many kids benefited tremendously. wore his band until he grew out of it. Received about 90% or more correction. My family is very happy that his head has rounded out. You can view his two albums under Plagio Kids and Docband. If anybody has brachy concerns or questions in general feel free to email me personally.
